Hi, posting this thread on behalf of my dad who has just brought a 2004 53 plate 1.9 diesel doblo with 110k on the clock. Firstly i'm not sure if it is a 1.9 turbo or non turbo, on the log book it says JTD but on the rear doors it says just SX, i can't find the turbo under the bonnet but came someone clarify this for me???

Shortly after picking it up, it cut out and would not restart , RAC came and noticed fuel filter was dry, filled up again with fresh diesel, took a while but finally started. Then drove 60 miles from derby and it ran fine not a problem, until the following day, would not start again  checked fuel filter and appeared dry again, re-filled with diesel and re-started, now getting engine management light on. Have noticed that there is a small leak from the top seals of the filter, so going to replace the filter, which should stop the dry filter problem. But when the engine management light is on and you press the accelerator pedal, the revs will very slowly pick up, but when the light isn't on, it revs fine.

Now, a mechanic friend of mine came and plugged in his snap-on solus diagnostics machine, found "rotor position sensor @ max" or something like that  He also checked the rotor position readings and it had a sending reading of 9mm and then an actual of 8mm???

I have searched for this but not found a deffinative answer. From what i have found, "T" seems to know about this???

Can someone or "T" please help???

A new fuel pump? will this definatly solve the problem, nothing to do with a sensor anywhere? Can you also confirm if it is a turbo or non turbo?

If its non-turbo (slowwwwwwwww) then will be pump. Probably on its second pump at 110k. Contact dealer who can confirm engine by SIGI.

I would scope out the rotor sensor pattern during a drive. From this you can be 100% sure. Pump can be reconditioned.

Thats great, i will try to confirm if it is a turbo or not, i have looked by the exhaust manifold but can't find anything, yet log book says JTD???

Hi, am in need of some help again, following on from my problem of the fuel filter being dry. Well after replacing the fuel filter, we took off the incoming fuel line off to see if fuel was being pumped from the fuel (lifter) pump in the tank. Found that there was no fuel coming down the line  then tested for 12v across the brown and blue wires on the orange plug on top of the tank, which there was 12v. Removed the fuel (lifter) pump from the tank and can't see where the brown and blue wires go, i can see the red and black go through the white plastic cap and down to the sender but the brown and blue don't go anywhere . There also doesn't seem to be any resembalance of a pump within this unit, just a black hollow piece of plastic . This has totally baffled me, as how does the fuel get from the tank to the engine???

Can someone please help me out again?

Thanks

honestly it has totally confused me and my dad, the brown and blue just seem to be linked within the white plastic cap, should the brown and blue go down to a pump?

It looks like it is a replacment pump from a scrapyard as it has the usual scrappy marking's on it, possibly incorrect pump???

Is it meant to have a pump to lift the fuel out of the tank or is it on a vacuum of some sort?
