Before doing a run to the local recycling centre, I removed the rear row of seats and folded the middle row to give me the maximum cargo space. As soon as I switched on the engine, an alarm tone sounded from the rear of the vehicle. as soon as I restored the centre seat to it's upright position, the alarm stopped.
I've fiddled around to ensure that the seat was fully folded, and searched for some sort of locking sensor, but I can't find one. My dealership hasn't got a clue.

Any ideas?

Hi,
yes, I've got the family too.
There's also a switch for the rear seats (the last row). It's at the top mounting point, you'll see a cable coming from the lever, where the lever fits round the top of the seat. I reckon this is sticking.
This switch should pop out when the rear seats are folded or removed. It's linked to the switch on the middle seat, which is probably working ok.
Try pressing the rear switch to release it, it's part of the lever/claw thing that holds the top of the rear seat, on the right if you're looking at the back of the car.
Also make sure the claw thing is released. If it's been knocked into the locked position, which could be done accidently, the alarm will sound as it will be pressing on the switch.

If it's not this switch it must be the switch on the middle seat, which is on the floor at the front of the middle seat. try working this one to release it.

Hope this helps,

Hello,

Sorry to bring back from the dead this post but I have a strange issue with my Doblo. I wanted to fold the middle seat from the middle row, but when I lifted the leaver and pressed the backrest nothing happened. It didn't budge. I then tried to use the 2 leavers to see if at least I can lift up the seat which worked just fine.
In the past I was able to fold the middle seat because I need all the available space when I moved, so it worked, but now something is broken.
Does any of you have a clue what might cause this and where to look?

Regards,
Andrei

Often with these things (all makes seat tilt adjust mechanisms) it's the cables that stretch. They are basically cheap **** on most cars, not just FIAT's - somewhere the makers save 0.007€ and fit a mild steel rubber band rather than a proper cable.

When they stretch, there's not enough movement to overcome the ratchet mechanism that holds the seat in place or upright. Seen it on a few motors. Try and locate the cable somewhere between the lever and the locking mechanism and pull it with a pair pliers or mole grips instead.

A bodge is to take one end out and turn the cable *in the direction of the cables twist* so it effectively shortens the cable, then refit it.

Have fun ;)
