Hi,

Well, I've done more than 60K now (03 plate). Last August I changed my cambelt, but not the water pump. I have read that pump failure is pretty common, particularly on 16v 1.9s, but it isn't unknown on 8v engines either.

So, rather than risk complete engine failure should I replace the pump, and I suppose the belt again, this August? And how much might it cost??

The engine is running like silk right now and apart from auxiliary belt failure early on it has given me no problems. I always idle before shut down, and I regularly drive it hard, but not carelessly.

All opinions gratefully received...

I used to have an MG and when the belt was replaced my mechanic always recommended changing the water pump at the same time for £30 as they could leak at higher mileages. I'll probably do the same with my Doblo. When does the timing belt need replacing?

I don't know when it needs replacing, but my dealer said 60,000, so I did it at 55,000 when it was serviced.
