Hi folks,..

I'm kinda new to all this, so please be patient with me.

I have a 2003, Non-turbo Diesel Doblo Van. ( with a problem ).
well here goes,.. the problem I'm having is .........

In the morning, the engine starts first turn of the key BUT after a couple of seconds it cut's out. it re-starts without a problem but again cut's out after a few seconds later.

Once the engine is up to operating temperature it stops stalling, but it seems to be hesitant, lack of power and occasionally the Eng. Man. Light comes on. Every so on the engine will cut out when approaching a corner/roundabout.

it is driving me mad:bang:,

I had it looked at with a snap-on solus machine and the fault code was:-
P0252 - rotor position check.

does this mean the pump is "pumped" or could it be something more simple.

any help would be grateful
cheers
andy:cry:

hey T.C.,
how much did it cost for your replacement, can you recommend a garage ??

does anyone else know how much it would cost to get the pump (lucas) overhauled or repaired.

i can remove the pump myself.

thanks T.C.,

i live in scotland myself (glasgow), so i will give them a call on monday.

cheers
andy

will post result for the benefit of the forum.

I'm having exact same problem, took it back to the diagnostic garage, the tech ran pure oil through the fuel pump and engine for a bit and that seemed to sort it, ran ok for a week then back to the same problem. Tech suggested Forte cleaner, couldn't get any, used Redex instead, no change.

The real pisser is the power steering cutting out when the engine does... makes for 'interesting' driving. It's also hard to bump start it, anyone know why?

My garage did much the same, and i tried the Forte treatment, sensor as well.
It all came back to the diesel pump being knackered.

(y) well, just to let everyone know ...

Yup, the pump was knackered. removed it myself and sent it to diesel bob's. :worship:(google it & see), very helpful and very reasonable. also, sent my injectors aswell which he tested and said "although worn, do not need replaced", so a bit of honesty goes a long way.

thanks to everyone who contributed and i hope you have more luck with your doblo's than i have.

ching, ching..:slayer:

Just had my doblo problem checked out. Turns out the fuel filter return valve was faulty (a common problem it appears) so the garage bypassed it and it's running great. Not as pricey as getting a new fuel pump...
