Hi members

I am new to this forum, so please forgive me if I this subject has been covered before. I did a search but didn't find any information.

I live in Turkey and have just bought a new Doblo Combi Premio 1.9 Multijet (105 BHP) and am disappointed with the performance which is not as good as the Doblo 1.3 Mutijet (75 BHP) I had on hire for 2 months. The new car has now done 300km and does not perform - it is as if the turbo is not working! The dealer says that the performance will increase when it has its first oil service. Does this mean that the dealer does something to the engine to make sure it is 'run-in' for 10,000km before 'switching on' the power? I am intrigued to know if I have to put up with poor performance for 10,000km?

Also, the car only comes with the manual in Turkish, does anyone know where to get an English version??

Apart from the above I am very pleased with the Doblo.

Thanks for your help!

Steve

shame abou the lack of performance on your doblo i swear by my 1.9 jtd but maybe yours is a feeling bit tight and needs to be well run in for several thousand miles first!, or maybe its a genuine fault if a 1.3 mj is better i would be hassling the dealer where you got it!!

as for manuals best and cheapest place is ebay that i have found!

sorry too hear of the poor performance of your 1.9 multijet. mine is 30 months old from new done 35000 miles and goes like the wind:D

BUT!!! all diesels mine incuded was very tight! certainly uptill 5000miles or so.

NO theres no magic button ot lotion the dealer will press or put in your engine just let it bed in. the 1.9multijet has only an 8v head unlike the 16v 1.3 so will feel more agricultural!! until worn in a bit.

I love mine just keeps getting better.

if you really feel there may be something more sinister get the dealer to check it over to find any faults.:)

OK, thanks for the advice. The world of modern diesels is alien to me and I had no idea that they exhibited this level of 'tightness' when new. I shall see how it goes over a few thousand km.

I was really impressed with the performance of the 1.3 Multijet which pulled like a train and I wanted just a little edge on it when tackling the mountain roads around here, hence I chose the 1.9. I didn't realise that the 1.9 only has the 8V engine though.

I shall get a manual on ebay - thanks for the tip.

Over the first 300km the fuel computer says the average consumption is 6.8 Litre /100km (42mpg) is getting better. The 1.3 was on 6.2 Litre /100km (46mpg).

My car has now done nearly 1000km and is getting better and is flying up the mountain roads. I asked the dealer about the 1.9 Multijet being 8 valve? and they said all new Multijets are 16 valve.

Steve glad your doblos is improving i am afraid your dealer is wrong its true that there are numerous 1.9 multijet 16v bhp combos in other fiat alfa cars and vans but in the doblo it is an 8v head check the specs at parkers

Hi

Just an update on the performance.

The car has now covered more than 4,000km and is starting to loosen up and start to move. Also the fuel consumption has reduced, it is now on 6.7 litre/100km.

I am very pleased with the Doblo - and my previous car in UK was a Jaguar XKR with 400 bhp!! OK - no real comparison in performance or style but the Doblo is comfortable and practical and more than adequate for the conditions in Turkey.
