I have a one year old 1.3 Multijet. I think it happened a couple of times last winter but in recent days every time the Ignition is turned on for the first time after an overnight frost, a Buzzer sounds and sign saying "ABS Failure" appears.

After a few seconds the Buzzer stops and the sign goes. This only happens on the first start after frost and never at any other time so one cannot replicate to a Garage.

Asked (under Warranty) my local Fiat Dealer to have a look. They checked and said all was fine with the Brakes and the ABS and the sign coming on was an outside temperature warning. Utterly amazing they believe this.

Yesterday there was an overnight frost but I did not start the Doblo until two in the afternoon when the temperature was well above freezing - I had the Buzzer and Sign again. It clearly relates to the temperature the night before, not at the time of starting.

An interesting event!

hi this is a software problem according to fiat with no remedy!! i have had this light from new my 1.3 is now coming upto 3 years old every time its cold outside car struggles to start and abs light comes on as do other lights fiat said if charge in battery falls low it will put sensor lights on.So i got to thinking fiat had stuck a ****e battery on!!! and they have! so i talked to bosch and they have a new range of battery out called the s5005 this will completly fill your battery tray and a perfect fit cost 90 quid! never had a light on since i fitted this battery!!! this is the biggest that they advise for this car my advice is change the battery and when you had enough of car steer clear of fiats!!! cos car and company and backup are ****!!

Many thanks, going to have another go at my Dealer as there is always the chance Fiat might pay for the right Battery!!!
I must admit the light is the only problem, starting in the cold is not a problem. Thanks again.

Many happy owners cant all be wrong though can they? (y)
Battery voltage on all modern systems is critical, the manufacturer of the abs system is Bosch, they make braking systems for many manufacturers, any software issue is with Bosch and will be present on many manufacturers cars. If your vehicle is low mileage or does short journeys or have high electrical loads on, it can contribute to the battery voltage being low, couple this with reduced battery voltage from cold batteries and thick engine oil due to low outside temperatures, compunds the matter. Hope this is more help.

I have same problem with my bus (Ducatto based). Cold mornings, difficult starting (despite good battery & 6-weekly maintenance). I get Abs light and buzzer for about 10 minutes.
As my rear suspension is linked to the braking system, I cannot even drive until the buzzer stops & I can then fill the rear suspension.
