Got the 1.9 diesel 7 seater family doblo, had it serviced at 12k now reached 18k without a oil/filter change (no warning lights and seems to be running ok) is this unusual?

try to make 10k with an oil/filter using a mineral with synthetic base oil. sint oil up to max 15k. more, the oil looses the proprieties. Depending the type of roads and % of driving in or outside town the mileage reduces.

According to the Doblo owners manual, the oil and filter only need changing every 20.000 kms unless the oil light is flashing in which case they need changing then.

Dave.

all doblos are 12000 miles or 12 months on the new service schedule.

for peace of mind and ultimate reliabilty , new filters all round, fuel, air and oil with a full synthetic 5w 40 oil. Will give you the best from your multijet.

i would recommend a change now!!!

manufacturers tried a few years back to be clever and say diesels could go for 18000 miles plus without a oil change yet most still put a semi synthetic 10w 40 in and expect it too keep a turbo spinning at 250000rpm without any problems.

best oil you can afford service every 12000 and you theoretically should't have any major engine or turbo issues. An extra £50 now is better than £1000 later:D

Mrs_G's 1.9 JTD.

Every 12,000 miles: new oil, new oil filter, new fuel filter, new air filter. Without fail.

340,000 miles and going strong.

Need I say more?

By the way! if it is with DPF read the number of regenerations made on a period of mileage. if it is one at around 160 miles change oil more often, if it is at 250 miles or more, you can make oil change normal. the producers of the car are trying to have their car more attractive, and servicing interval is one of issues. Having in mind that every diesel Tcharged engine eats at list 300 ml / 1000milles, in around 12000 you'll have allready 80% of oil changedbut how? By refresing only with 1l at a time. The DPF engine will ruin oil more rapid and more dangerous ( more Carbon particules) and rapidly when using car only or almost all time in town at low speeds.
So, speak with your mechanic and explain him how you use the car and based on number of spontan or forced regenarations from onechange to next establish what's the best period.

have only had to add half a litre (y)as a top up in 30000 miles !

Malin,

That would mean I would have to top up 9 litres at 300ml per 1000 miles
surely not:confused:
