I recently had my 2nd service which can be done at up to 24,000 miles but I'd only done 13,000 so I was told I could have the low mileage service as things like the brakes probably wouldn't need doing.
This would have cost £130, which seemed reasonable to me.
When I picked the car up I was told that it needed the full 24,000 mile service and the bill was £220 .
Would the front brakes really have needed doing at 13,000 miles? especially as I'm really light on the brakes when I drive.
Also, could I have insisted on a low mileage service when I booked the car in? It had only gone 1000 miles over the 1st service limit.
It does say in the handbook that you can opt for a low mileage service if you're a long way from the maximum recommended mileage.

have they replaced the brakes?

its 12 months or 12000 miles, theres not alot of difference in the standard and low mileage service.

remember brake fluid which is hygroscopic ( absorbs water) needs changing every 24 months, regardless of use, so this may have bumped up the bill!!

never been a fan of low mileage service schedules, a straight 12 months or mileage limit is straight forward.:)

They should of obtained your prior authorisation beforehand.

They did. They said if the brakes need doing we'll do the full service so I said that's ok. Sorry I didn't make that clear, I was just shocked at the difference in price, which they didn't mention.

Thanks for that. They did replace the fluid but I didn't ask about the pads, I presumed they'd changed those too because he just said "brakes". Maybe they didn't.
