My engine light has started to come on after starting from cold, the engine is very "lumpy" It goes out after a restart and once warm runs normally.
What could be the matter?

If its diesel possibly glow plugs or maybe head gasket.

Hi mate,

It wont be the glow plugs, they have their own failure light.Sounds like it could be the cold start sensor/temp sensor. Its dead easy to change and only cost around a fiver.

Hope that helps,
Alan

Any pointers as to where it is and how to fit it?

Have a look in the punto guides section under "where everything is on the JTD" Im sure I labelled it on there. If not, then use the picture, but its located on the right hand side of the engine, and sticks out the top of where the thermostat is. If you dont know where that is, follow the cooling pipe from the rad to where it meets a metal object mounted to the side of the engine lock (thermostat). It has a multi-plug connected into it.

There is no sensor on the exhust on the D

Hope that helps,
Alan

Garage thinks it is caused by an air leak and proposes to change the fuel pipes to filter and use another make of filter.
They have had to do this before.

Filter changed and altogether motor running better, but still prone to cutting out till properly warmed up.

You said use another make of filte,r that type and make of filter did you use.
Thanks
