Can anyone help me with a price for a non-runner?

It is a Fiat Doblo Cargo SX JTD 54 reg white 1.9 Diesel with factory bulkhead and double side doors.

The engine developed a knocking noise and the garage started to strip it down and said it needed a new engine, which wasn't economical.

I don't know whether anyone could fix it, but certainly a spare engine from a damaged van, etc, would be viable.

It was high mileage, but in quite good condition, one owner/driver from new.

Can anyone suggest what I should ask for it and where is best to advertise?
I thought Autotrader maybe.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Bruce

bruce, sorry to hear of your troubles,

but if its not economicaL for YOU to repair and you allready own it!!
why would anyone else want to buy a non runner!

have you looked into costs of reparing yourself then still keep it or resell a working van?

Although it is not economical for me to repair it, the situation might be quite different for someone else. The garage wanted £3,000 for the engine, plus fitting, which, for that age of van, would not be economical.

If I could have picked up a second hand engine locally for say £500 or so, it would have been worth doing, but there was nothing available.

So, as I said, if someone had an engine from a damaged van, or could get hold of an engine, or even strip and repair the existing engine themselves, it could be a nice van again.
