Thought I would say hello.

I'm not really a newbie as I have owned more than a dozen Fiats and been a member of the Forum for a while.
I previously had an 03 Doblo JTD ELX which I sold 2 years ago because I foolishly thought I needed more creature comforts. So I bought an overly complex Stilo and most recently a new Panda Multijet. I realised though that they were both poor substitutes for a Doblo as well as very small substitute in case of Panda.

So as of Monday I am proud and excitied owner of a 08 Dynamic 1.9 Multijet 105 in Grey or silver, not sure which.

welcome back(y)

My 06 cargo 105 multijet is in steel grey metalic, very stylish, think you'll be happy with the 105bhp personally think its the best engine spec for all round drivabiltity, power and economy.

My Doblo is the perfect size and shape for the work I do with domestic appliances but I don't think I will be getting another one when I change it. It has just given too much trouble, including head gasket, wiper linkages, wiper electrics, reversing lamps, a tyre blowout due to rim corrosion, windscreen problems etc etc. The local Police have an MPV version of the Ford Transit Connect van. These are quite rare (I don't buy new so will be looking for a used example) but when I'm ready to change I will be looking for one. I used to have the MPV version of the old Fiesta based Courier van and it is still going strong as I sold it to a friend a few years ago.

Sorry you've not enjoyed your Doblo experience fido, but I have gone into this eyes wide open and know Doblo is better than competition, for my purposes anyway.

Not sure which one you have but by cylinder head gasket failure makes me wonder whether 1.9D non-turbo which is a poor engine known for problems, JTD's and subsequent Multijets are different beasts altogether.

No, mine is actually the 1.2 petrol. I did the head gasket myself and was not impressed by the engineering For example, there is no automatic tensioner for the cambelt and the head gasket itself is a very basic item with no reinforcing collars round the cylinder holes. The Doblo is cheap to buy new but like most things, you get what you pay for.

The 1.2 petrol in the Doblo like the normally aspirated 1.9 diesel was a mistake from the start far to inferior engines for such a vehicle.

i think you would find the the 1.9 multijet diesels different beasts all together.

As for the transit connect, have driven a few, all the engines are terrible compared to the JTD multijets. Ford diesels in the connect are positively prehistoric. Drives well though.
