Thanks for the reponse. Do you know why they made the £180 for LGV's when and if had I bought an MPV it would have been the better rate?

Thanks for the response, my vehicle was registered Nov' 2005 and is a CARGO.

Fiat said it only meets Euro 3 but also confirmed the newer shape Cargo but with same engine and running gear is Euro 4. Madness!

Same engine ( block) and running gear yes !! but totally different fuel injection system multijet technology not unijet (jtd) as in your 05 cargo this new multijet technology enabled fiat to pass euro 4 emmissions on its diesels.

the £120 tax band was only an incentive passed on to LGV purchasers at the time so as to tempt them to buy a euro 4 LGV instead of the older euro 3 class.

Hope this helps

Thanks again but as per my original post I have the 1.3 M-jet engine... It's Nov 2005 so '55 plate.

I don't think there was ever a 1.3 JTD?

Sorry!! replied late on after hard day.:D your 55 plate 1.3 multijet I'm sure should be a euro 4 engine, is it the 70bhp version or 85bhp, if the earlier engine it may have only been tuned to meet euro 3 at the time as the newer 85bhp version released with the facelift doblo in 06 is definately euro 4.:)

It's apparently the 75bhp model.

Fiat have confirmed it was never tested to meet euro4 but the identical model but "car" version was tested and does although euro4 only applies to LGV's.

I am wondering if there is away to have an individual vehicle tested and then euro4 certified?

I am paying £210 a year on my Doblo 1.9D. :( It does 191g/km CO2 but my Merc E320 CDI does 194g/km and therefore costs the same.
The stupid thing is that round the doors my Dobby does 45 mpg and the Merc is lucky if it does 25mpg. Obviously over 70 mph (if that was allowed in the UK) the Merc is more economical. :)

postman, you've hit the nail on the head this mad loony left governmemts car tax policy is going to leave the used car market in tatters, driving style is as much an issue to how much co2 you pollute as well as the cars official rating.

But you can't legislate for driving style. The current legislative system will have to do, and hopefully people will replace their cars with more economical models, and so help conserve the diminishing oil reserves.

I had the 1.9D non turbo with aircon and 214g/km.
I wasn't prepared to pay over £200 for one of the slowest cars on the road and aircon that didn't work. I gave my Doblo away to a good homeand bought a Skoda.
