Mrs O took her car to Guides tonight. Has to park on a main road, on a hill, outside the church. Came out 3 hours later to blue flashy things!
Some indescribable cretin has driven into the back of it, bounced off, scraped burst tyre 40 feet, then abandoned it!!
We ae left with a burst tyre, wrecked ally and damage to the rear light surround, rear wing, rear door and end of the door sill!!
Fortunatley Mr Plod did a check and we have the name of the hire co.

Well, had a good look in daylight and I am not happy. Superficial damage to rear bumper, quarter panel and door is simple enough. But underneath could be more of a problem.
The alloy is peeled back at the rim, tyre has a 10in tear, but then there is damage to the cill. Could this mean that the axle twisted and the wheel hit it, or is it a secondary impact? Also the plastic mudguard is split, must have been hit by the wheel? Another suggestion of large axle movement?
I have insisted that the car is collected, do not feel safe driving it!!

at least the police sound like they're on to them. Hopefully you'll get a full pay out.
Have you found out if the hire car co's insurance will pay for a hire car while you're waiting?

But the drongo from the body shop came and drove it away!!

Police? Ha!!!! Rang them this morning to see if the driver had turned up and they had got thier name. Gets through to CAD, quotes the reference no. No, they don't have that, the number is too big!! Can they search on the reg no?
Hang on, I have to ask my supervisor!
No, you will have to ring xxxxx in 2 days, they will have the record then and can find it my the reg no.
You know how someone tells you something, and you know they are lying? Pushed her and it turned out that her supervisor HAD fouind the record, and no, there was no name on it!!

As for courtesy car, this is being dealt with by a specialist company, who provide like for like, rather than a Fiesta. However, they need to know the name of the driver of the other car, then they get a car from Enterpise. If they don't get the name, and the manager has had a bad night, then I get fobbed off to Enterprise, who will fob me off with a Fiesta!!!
Day one and the letter of complaint to the insurance company is heading for a side of A4!!!!

I suppose if you've got comprehensive cover it will get sorted but then it affects your no claims, which shouldn't need to happen as you're not the one at fault.

If it's definitely a hire car that hit yours, why can't the hire co just pay up?
After all, they 're the ones that were insuring the car and driver.

It gets better! The company that is sorting the courtesy car on behalf of the insurance co is trying to track the driver. Trouble is that there seems to be about three companies between the supplying garage and the driver - all leasing to each other. No-one will tell who is next in line 'data protection Act'!! So the girl working for me has to get company A to ask Company B to ring them, could take days!!
In the end I agreed to take a basic courtesy car, temporarily. When Enterprise rang to arrange it turned out I would get a Ka, or similar. I agreed to pay £2 a day to upgrade to a Corsa type. WhenI got there I was upgraded again, free, to a Honda Jazz - an absolute pile of Kak!! Turns out my wife cannot get in it, let alone drive it, because they use air fresheners, which trigger her asthma!!

Insurance is no prob, tho' as NCB is protected!!
