Well hoover & zanussi models tend to hold thier value more especially if they are washer/driers,however most electrical outlets are offering good discounts at the moment so you have to consider this before you repair/renew.
Sounds good zanussi multijet / hover jtd T14086.:)

Wow. Last time I red this thread no-one was screaming, shouting or behaving anything like some of the replies would have the casual observer believe. Obviously Fiat's level of service is something of a hot topic.

I have experienced poor customer service and a poor standard of work from a Fiat dealer in the past. Needless to say I did the sensible thing. I wrote a letter of complaint to Fiat UK and copied this letter to an email sent to Fiat UK and with the dealer concerned in the CC line.

Ever since I have recieved fantastic service from this dealership and usually get some kind of special treatment too (like free fault code resetting, reduced hourly rate, free labour if fault not fixed etc). Although I don't live near to this dealer any more I am sure that the level of service that I recieve would the same if I had to return.

This is because they are afraid that I will make trouble for them.

I don't like to make people afraid but they obviously got such a b****cking before that they can't afford to mess it up again. If you have a problem than complain to the appropriate persons (i.e. head office) and everything will be resolved to your satisfaction, no company wants dissatisfied customers shouting their complaints to the world!

I agree, I once complained direct to the production line rather than the dealer.

I had a situation back in 91 with a Maestro Clubman Diesel which had a catalogue of build faults that defied belief.
It was build faults though, off the line and not the garages fault. In fact the Rover main dealer did everything in their power to sort it out.

It was pre internet and I did not want to damage the dealer, but at the same time thought that those responsible for my misfortune should get a good crack across the a**.
I wrote an article about the marque and the build faults and this was a motoring magazine with good circulation.
We were touring Scotland and passing through Wick when it went into print. Very satisfying to see it in such a remote location , knowing that not only was it on sale nationally but circulated overseas.
The cream in the bun was `knowing` it was being read at the factory and by the guys `on the line` who had put the thing together.(y)

I continued to be supportive of the Rover dealer who was not at all to blame in this. As much as possible, I thought that I had focussed the blame to where it actually was.
Build and development faults also make a dealership a victim I believe, they have risked perhaps their own families financially by putting together to buy a Dealership, or a franchise.
Then despite their best efforts to build a good customer base, build and development faults *continue* to come off the line on time scales beyond all reason with new models.

Regards

Is it really that hard to get it right?

I would imagine its quite difficult, given the nature of complex machines and keeping quality control, while also forcing outside component suppliers to a price.

Whats unforgivable though is when the design and components are within parameter, but the guys on the production line dont care ( and worse)

Was it the Rover production line in the 70/80s that suspended a nut on a string inside a boxmember of a car?

Even now, just look at problems ford have with the TDCi Mondeo , Volkswagen with plastic tensioners going, engines being wrecked and (allegedly) Toyota with piston/ring problems on some current engines.

Some of these cars at around double the cost of a basic GP.

Don't remember that one but I think some older Rover engines were notorious for needing head gaskets - so when owners talked about "I get 55 out of mine" they meant 55 days between replacing head gaskets:D

And I've come across far too many mondeos with oil-sodden clutches for that to be a glitch.
