I have a Fiat Doblo 1.9 JTD 04 reg with 63000 miles on the clock. Within the last 7 days it feels as if the brakes are applying themselves whilst i'm driving along. If I let the accelorater pedal up and then push down again the braking sensation ceases and I can continue driving as normal. There seems to be no set pattern to this happening. I can go 2 hours without it happening and then it can happen 3 times in a minute. About 2 weeks ago i had new brake pads fitted so i don't know if that's anything to do with it. Can anyone help?

if the problem has only arisen since the new pads were fitted thats your first port of call ! Go back and tell them the problem Its usually the case as soon as you have work done on your vehicle 1 or more unrelated problems occur.

Pads could have not been fitted correctly as the distance betweend disc and pad at rest is small maybe pads are rubbing and not releasing fully once applied.

we can all guesstamate all day long but i'd take it back and get them to sort it!!

Hope you get it fixed :)

Happened to me after a service at Fiat. They said they had knocked the brake pedal in such a way so that the sensor was registering that the brakes were on, causing a fuel cut-off apparently. This could well have occurred when pads etc were changed if the mechanics drove the car or used the pedal in any way, worth a shot.

I took the car back to where I had the pads fitted, they had a look - put a bit extra grease on and now it drives perfectly. How odd! but at least it's OK now.
