I've got a 1.9d Doblo which has a constant squeaking (like birds chirping) coming from the engine. When starting from cold its quite noisy and reduces when the engine is warmed up. The squeak is still there but only noticeable when accelerating.

Does anybody know what this is and a potential fix for it?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks auto blanco.

Sorry to ask but could you tell me where the accessory belt is located as I am a bit of a novice at this?

My JTD developed this a 3 months prior to 72000 mile service. Cam belt changed (required at 72000) and noise went away. Probably was an accessory belt that was tightened during the service. Could be hard to find them, I believe they might be under a cover and maybe best accessed from below (undertray is a pain). Don't worry too much, probably nothing major, best to tighten any loose belts to eliminate the risk of them wearing more quickly.

Thanks Robin. I had my Doblo checked by a local garage who found that the Accessory belt and Tensioner had to be changed. They done this and the noise has gone away. Hope it lasts.

Thanks Obadiah. A bit worrying though! I don't do much mileage in my Doblo (it was converted as a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle for my son and mostly used for his needs). It's got 20.5K miles on the clock since new and its coming on to 6 years old. I suppose it may be due to this i.e. low usage that caused this problem. Regards.

On accesibility, the belt is (just) accesible through small gaps on the LHS of the engine bay, sufficient to check the tension in a very rough way.
To do anything more it's on the jack (ideally axle stands or ramps!) and under tray off, as the tensioner is on the bottom of the engine block and the access from the top is too restricted.
