Hi everybody

This is my first post as I have only just discovered this wonderful forum.

My Doblo is an 03 but I love it and I have just had it about a year. It is soooo economical. I bought it because I do frequent trips to France and I can cram lots in and the air con is a blessing.

Anyway to my query.

It has just had its 48000 mile service at the local Fiat dealer (Desira). I see from the service sheet that it was filled up with Selenia Semi-synthetic diesel oil and that the oil and filter should be changed again in 12000 miles.

I am perhaps old fashioned and think I should perhaps change them at 6000 miles.

Will i do any harm if i do this?

I can buy oil from French supermarkets much cheaper than I can in the uk so can someone please advise me what I should be buying.

There is no Selenia but all the other makes, Shell Total, Esso Castrol, Mobil plus cheaper supermarket own brands.

Do I just look out for semi-synthetic diesel or should I use fully synthetic?

Any comments would be gratefully received.

Thanks

12,000 on semi-synth sounds a bit far. I'd be thinking 12,000 on fully synthetic and as you say 6,000 on semi-synthetic. As for what oil - I'm guessing the doblo is saving you a fortune elsewhere so treat it to some decent oil. I've always used Millars Oils - their fully synthetic is about £25 for 5L - however I'm not taking any chances.

You can't do any harm changing at six thou (now it's run in), but 12000 miles is the scheduled service interval (or one year) and Selenia is Fiat's recommended oil.
