Hi all

Had to get new gearbox fitted. The cab is only 14 months old and always serviced by dealer where bought from. When the box got took out then contacted fiat to get someone up to strip the box (took 4 weeks) When the fiat man went to the dealership he didn't even strip the box. Just turned around and said the warranty was void because it's used as a taxi. even though it is a purpose built for disabled access and sold by a dealer that only sells taxi's. contacted fiat and they say since it has seats for 5 people including driver then its a mpv and not made for commercial use.

New gearbox and clutch £1000
Different garage to fit it £100 (Labour cost of fiat dealer would be £600)
Had already ordered a fiat scudo 7 seater now cancelled and buying a transit 8 seater instead Never buy fiat again

Quite!

Why should it matter if you used it as a taxi?

As long as you drive it properly and service it regularly who are Fiat to dictate. Does that mean a Merc E Class or a Mondeo forfeit their warranties? I don't think so.

Something odd here.

Fiat Tech said that because the doblo was sold as a private car and not commercial vehicle he saying that fiat don't make them with the higher roof and wheelchair access the vehicle had been modified from private car to commercial vehicle. Taxi is always serviced at proper service intervals and fiat parts fitted even brake pads at £45.00 a shot

They could at least meet you half way, even if they do have some exit clause for the warranty hidden in the small print.

Sometimes it seems as if Fiat goes out of its way to upset customers (who are also prospective follow-up customers ), especially if they drive for work and do a high mileage.

If I was them I'd be thinking of the next sale to you and not the one-off first buy.

I know people who keep buying the same make as the one they took their test in because they daren't risk anything different. Unhelpful service practice is just the trigger that could make such loyal customers walk.

I do wonder at Fiat sometimes.

Respect!!!

Now remember to tell as many people as you can... I've cost fiat many potential customers. A 2 year unlimited mileage warranty that is anything but!!

Oh look, do I spy a bunch of fiat warranty staff doing what they do best?

Fiat are losing out left right and centre in taxi trade seems that i'm not the only gearbox to go a doblo has had 3 new boxes fitted in a year it's a taxi too also you can't just buy the rear anti roll bar bushes you have to buy the whole lot. I own 5 doblo's all taxi's and 1.9 jtd the scudo i ordered was a test to see what it would be like if ok then replace the others as well. So sent a letter of to the md of fiat via solicitor to say i'm displeased about the problem and the warranty as well also stating how many i own and at 15'000 a go it ain't cheap. the transit are double the price but the quality of finish is 1000% better than the doblo the rep from the taxi show wasn't happy either when i phoned up to cancel the order because he was waiting to see if i was going to replace the other doblo's which he new i was going to do ! Just wish i could have seen his face when i told him though

This seems crazy. The dealer I bought mine from said that they don't sell many Doblos for private use, they're nearly all sold as taxis. Does that mean the warranties are void on nearly all the Doblos he's sold??? Half the new taxis I see in Bristol seem to be Doblos, and they usually have the high roof, which Fiat themselves advertise in the Doblo brochure as an option. Fiat must be having a good laugh at the expense of the bulk of their customers in the UK.

Hi all

the warranty was void because it's used as a taxi.

To be fair to Fiat ( and with no disrespect to the OP) I think that statement needs comment either from a Fiat source or from other Doblo Taxi owners who have had warranty claims.

Regards

They're fobbing you off as people have said. Try contacting Fiat directly. I personally know of at least 3 Doblo Taxi's in my area who've had the odd bit done on warranty, and know of at least 20 that are used as taxis! Great cars and if I ever did drive a taxi it would be the Doblo I'd use - Fords are fantastic, in fact the best but can be over priced, look what you get for your money with the Doblo!

All depends on the problems people have had, tell as many people as you can about it... then maybe they'll realise!

Spent 7 years at Ford & the transit was a nightmare, constant customers threating to give the van back however I admit i'm not up to date on the latest transit but we (and the customer) perfered the older (mk2) versions by far to the mk3.

Every car/vehicle has it poor points, every manufactuer has its fair share of customer service/warranty complaints...to disagree otherwise would be 'blinkered' (search driver reviews on any search engine)...the fact in question here is why has Fiat refused to honour the warranty.

How many services has the car had? I take it the vehicle has been converted? You need to get it in writing exactly why your claim has been refused & then take it from there.

I have never had a problem with taxi warranty jobs on doblos (or scudos) and cant help thinking something is missing here:confused:

Anyway good luck with your claim (let us know if you have any success) or your new fleet (y)
