Hi, have a 1.9 JTD 05 plate. I would like to fit a third row of seats. Has anyone done this or know where I can get information on this? Any info would be appriciated.

thanks

With all due respect it would probably be easier/cheaper to buy a seven seater Dobbie - they do do them you know:D

I have the 7 seat model. There are retaining bars recessed and welded into the floor for the rear seats to clamp onto. Also, the seats are retained at the top with bolt on bars. I think the spare wheel holder is different on the 7 seater too. It's not as complex as other 5/7 seaters I've seen. The Nissan Prarie had a lower floor on the 7 seat model so you couldn't convert the 5 seater. The Doblo has the same level floor on all models.
You'll have to find a 7 seater in a dealer and have a really good look at the mounting points. Not an impossible job but very tricky.

Why have Fiat seats though? You could so easily retro-fit a pair of seats in the back, just don't drill into the fuel tank!

Check out this thread! It's already been one, give him a PM, he doesn't have a Doblo any more but he might be able to help you!

Wish I had got the 7 seat option when we bought it was only another £200 or something like that.

Was thinking about getting rear seats from a galaxy or espace or something similar. I will probably mount them rear facing for easy access and would like to have them easily removable.

Where do the seat belts mount on the 7 seat doblo? Are they mounted to the body or the seat?

Would they be safe in an accident, and what about seat belts.
And what would all the drilling and modifying do to the resale value?

The belts are mounted to the body and the bits with the release button thingy on it are mounted to the seat frame.
Actually, if you used non Dodlo seats you'd probably end up with more usable space in the boot. The proper ones are terrible, they don't fold away very neatly, you have to remove them to get some good luggage space. I think they're the worst design feature of the car.

I'm not convinced they were designed- more made up as they went along:devil:

Seriously I wonder how much it cost Vauxhall to develop that flexible seating system they put in the Zafira against what FIAT did with the Dobbie.

You want flexible fold away seats - buy a Zafira. You want cheap motoring and a hernia - buy a Dobbie.

If you start putting in seats, it'll cost you a fortune in insurance, remember they always ask, has it been modified, it'll be more cost effective to sell it, and buy a family version from fiat supasaver.com

agreed .... our 3rd row spends most of its time in the garage... used to have a zafira company vechicle great flexibility ... but i still prefer the dobbin ... just do.. (y)

I hired a Zafira once, the boot with the seats in use was even smaller than a Dobbie, which is difficult, and they're totally gutless, unless you went for the VXR I spose.

It was never designed to major on passengers, was it. The third row is a cheap bonus for those who really need the seats, otherwise its a very good five seat van type thing for not too much money. The Vauxhall is more complicated, and more expensive - and doesn't have the fab low floor of the Dob - because it has seats stored in it...;)

Plus the ZXafira is so dull you'd lose it in a car park - hell you'd forget where it was whilst sitting in it!

Thanks for all you comments guys. Need to save some money first, still not sure if I'm going to do it myself or get it done professionally. Will keep you updated.

What about buying a Multipla ?

6 real seats, 3 of them fully removable, you know that all :)

Yup, and wider than a cross channel ferry. I honestly couldn't get one up my driveway (damn those double entendres).

Besides the Dobbies more reliable - stands back and awaits rotten tomatoes

No you're right.
I like the Multipla, and it drives well, but it IS too wide for convenience, and there still isn't any room behind the rear seats. At least the Dob has a small warehouse in the back (five up).
