I am getting a used doblo and the main fiat dealer is telling me that i need to take out a warranty with them as it is against the law for them to sell me the car without a warranty. The doblo is a 04 reg and has done 33,000 miles. Its a ex mobility car so must of been looked after but i can purchase a warranty myself of the internet fot £148 and they are telling me i have to pay £299. I am not happy. PLease can someone tell me the true facts as i am going again for the a test drive in the car this afternoon, thanks julie

I'm unsure as to the law regarding them selling a car without a warranty, but if they can't then they should include it in the price! When I was looking at an 03 plate the garage included a 6 month warranty in the price!
It's the same when you buy a product from the shop, if it goes faulty within 28 days you take it back... I would assume it's the same for a car.
The garage sounds like a bit of a joke anyway, is there nowhere else you can get a better deal?

Avoid them at all costs.
Take the Doblo for a test drive to see if you like the way it drives but get one from a different dealer.

I am getting the doblo from a trade dealer, i expect them to provide a warranty of some sort either 3 months or 6 months that most provide anyway. This Fiat dealer is a big motor group called caledonia but i will take your advice and is taking for a test drive tomoz as it is coming on a transporter tonight from another part of the country and then if they will not give me free warranty i will take my business elsewhere. I am paying cash for the car so my money will be good anywhere. I am looking forward to driving the doblo and i need it to put my fishing rods and tackle in and i know i will have no trouble with room unlike my seicento i have now. Thanks guys
Let us know how it goes! A big group like that should, without a doubt, give you a warranty... Walk away if they don't!

I test drived the Doblo today and loved it, told them i would have it after a lot of arguing over the warranty. Ended up getting a 12 months warranty for next to nothing and upgraded to their gold premium as well.There top spec warranty. Thanks for all your advice especially ozzie and niall. Hope i enjoy it for the next 6 years like i did the seicineto. yippee
