Hi all

Advise for engine remap on 1.3 doblo 70 hp, can it do damage to the engine on long term use ie over 5 years use, could do with more power when pulling our caravan 900kg in weight, speaking to a friend who advized not to have one done because he says it alters the engine timing and will damage the engine long term.
I know angel tuning do remaps just looking for advize.

Many thanks

Hello

we've 1.3 multijet 70 bhp... and had up to early last year an adria 12 ft 594kg... 4 berth. We use the doblo on long trips away... the caravan was only used for two holidays in Cornwall ... before we sold it

I think your engine will really struggle ours did with a lighter caravan , I don't want to horrible but fully loaded with kit + kids and the caravan I believe it would, over a long period - may do some damage... I've noted that the hydraulic clutch can be affected by the changes to the load pulled. I do pull caravan chassis's + large trailers on occasion. but not far distances...

I bought a tweak box which did improve it a little but this year when testing it; the car wouldn't rev over 3,500 so it’s binned...

If your happy with the car and don't want to get rid then move over to trailer tent (hardtop) ... there’s lots out there and are becoming more popular now people are not having large engines, We have two... easy to tow + very light..

if you want to keep the caravan then trade the 1.3 for a 1.9 multi to be honest I would really advise to do this option... I will be trading ours next year for a 1.9 jtd family... as it will be three years old...

A remap would give some 10/15 % extra power ... but there’s/thats no excuse for extra CC...

The engine is de-tuned in effect from the factory to make sure that it lasts 300,000+ miles.

You would not do any damage over 5 years, you are just using some of what is de-tuned at the factory. Companies like Angel Tuning would not do it, or make any money, if it were to damage your engine after only a few years.

Tuning from no professional companies or these cheap boxes you can buy are the ones to avoid and can damage your engine. A professional company will tune each engine individually to what is suitable.
