I'm new to the forum so I though you might like my hints of the doblo. I have owned mine for the last two years clocking up 92,000 miles hard motoring. Of coarse I have had some faults and here they are.

1. Engine overheated without warning, resulting in new engine fitted at 21,000 miles. Damaged head apparently.

2. Central locking system would not unlock rear doors. Luckily I was able to open them from the inside by forcing the latch from its catch bar. The problem was the plastic piece fitted to the remote locking motor that operates the door mechanisms. This had broken. I made one in metal and its been fine since. Its a good idea however not to load anything against the doors putting pressure on the mechanisms. This is what I suspect caused the breakage in the first place.

3. If you hear a bump from the rear, or experience severe wandering on cornering, or feel the vehicle is about to leave its chassis check out the rear bump stops above the rear springs. Mine had worn away and in fact were'nt there at all. Replacements returned the van to prime condition again.

4. Intermittant wiper faults. Sometimes work alright and on other occasions not so. Cannot find the actual fault but it can be rectified by stopping the engine and restarting again. Bit of a nightmare when it happens on the motorway in a rainstorm though.

5. Rear nearside bearing wore out at 30,000. Replaced no trouble since.

6. One day I suffered major electrical malfunctions. Every switch, control and fitment operated something different to what it was intended to do. After checking the earthing system I located an earthing block fitted near the air cleaner, and this had broken off its mounting. Quickly repaired and refitted with no trouble since.

The best bit: it still drives and acts like a new vehicle at 92,000 on the clock and the parts are so easily fitted and so cheap to buy, and service.

I to have had quite a few problems with my Doblo, it is out of warranty soon can you tell me me where you get your cheap spare parts please

If it's under warranty, fiat will replace the faulty parts free of charge, just pop it down to them and tell them whats wrong with it

I just joined the forum last night, so I'm about a year on after your post on problems, but some of yours I too have experienced namely....

The intermittant wipers wouldn't wipe intermittantly, they operated as if on speed one. I returned the van to my main dealer under warranty - they told me the motor was packed with grease which had leaked out onto the contacts and caused the problem, common fault with the Punto too. They cleaned it up and no problems since, except the passenger wiper stopped working. I stripped the front cover to have a look and saw the polyurethene bush had vaporised and the wiper arm had simply collapsed. Of course my van was the first Doblo to have this problem, but when quizzed I was told the Punto suffers from this problem too. Imagine that and the Doblo and Punto share parts including the wipers!! Apparantly only the passenger one gives trouble. The FIAT fix is to drill a hole and use a split pin to hold the arm onto the drive, but if the person breaks the drill bit the whole assembly has to be replaced as per mine.

My rear door refused to lock and unlock with the central locking - I had to use the key. It was the plastic arm which broke. I think it broke one day when I tried to lock up the van and the back door wasn't closed properly and the central locking "bounced".

Thankfully my suspension has remained intact, the only other weird thing she does is on a Monday morning of the van has been resting for the weekend, the body computer re-sets itself when I start the engine. The clock, headlight beam adjust and trip computer all re-set. Also the Sikura alarm defaults to installation mode. I have to power it down, drive a few miles to charge up the flat battery which just started the van, lock the van and re-power the alarm. GRR a right pain.

Anyway the Doblo delivers more smiles per mile than any other van on the market.....

wipers should be fine if you just gently twist the keys without actually turning them.

I am having problems with my wipers as well sometimes work sometimes don't. What do you mean by gentle twist the keys without turning them.

i had the same problem thought there was dirt on the stem. While spraying with
electrical spray just caught the keys while ignition was switched on and wipers
started to work normally,Try it

Just bought 2005 Doblo Familly, great value for 7 seats. Always had rear wheel drive taxi based cars for guaranteed hard wareing and serviceability. Had the Doblo a week and the gear stick came apart, looking at the welding was a bit shocked at how flimsy it looks. Anybody else had this problem, have I bought an ugly duckling that I thought was really a swan, or is as bomb proof as I hoped it would be<

I think I have seen this on the Forum somewhere, but don't ask me where. This isn't common.

With the Doblo the wiper linkage can break, and you need to make sure the auxiliary drive belt is not rattling/squeaking. Other than getting the oil and cambelt changed regularly I don't think there are too many common problems.
The clutch can disintegrate, but that seems to be common to all dual mass clutches and apparently there is a non dual-mass replacement from Fiat if you look hard enough.

All this info can be gleaned from trawling the Doblo site on the Forum.

Do allow it to idle every time before turning the engine off, and make sure it gets a decent long run from time to time.

I think it's common on the Multipla

This little plastic piece onf nonsense is the bane of my Doblo's life.:bang: I have replaced it twice and it has gone agina so I can't lock the back door. Does anyone know the actual part name or where I can get a metal one (as above)

Cheers, Alex

Sorry for troubling you all but I am new to the site and have had my doblo for two year now and need some bump stops or suspension assisters any ideas for cheapness
mine is a 1248 diesel disabled converted high top and I average 52 mpg
thanks Chris

Hi all, I have a 52 plate 1.9 Doblo Cargo Van, had no problems til today, started van normally, went to put wipers on and all hell broke loose, there is a buzzing coming from steering column and everything electrical in the cab has packed in, Heater, Radio, indicators etc, van still drives but obviously too dangerous to do so, any ideas????

Hi ive got a 1.9 jtd and I had exactly the same problem . i found a broken wire at the point where the rear door hinged

Hi Everyone I am also having problems with my electrics at present my rear wiper motor tries to work but does not have enough power also every time the brake pedal is pressed the wiper motor buzzes and the centre rear brake light glows slightly also the front side lights work. everything stops when the brake pedal is released. The wiper motor was replaced with new one but nothing has changed. has anyone had the same problem or know what the fault is likely to be ? any suggestions would be gratefully received. ps my first post so I apologize in advance if I have done anything wrong.

Hi,sounds like you have an earthing fault with wiring in rear doors and wiper motor trying to earth through other circuits, could also be wiring bared and various wires touching, most likely place is where wiring enters rear door through rubber gaiter, pull back gaiter and inspect wires. Could add temporary piece of wire from good earth point to bracket on wiper motor and see if cures fault, then investigate fault or add additional earth wire, hope this helps regards John.

Thanks for your help it was a broken wire in the rubber gater. repaired and everything working now

Morning all. I've just joined.
I have a 56 plate Doblo SX cargo van. 1.9 JTD.
I'm impressed so far, I have experienced some of the niggles mentioned in this thread, but I need help with something not mentioned.
1. I have 2 x blue keys, no remote fob . Is that standard? My problem is, there doesn't seem to be an alarm, no beeps, no flashing of indicators etc. BUT, for the past few nights, someone's car alarm has been going off at 4am... I've looked out the window to check neighbours cars... But I think it's coming from my van..🤣. It sounds broken, weak and ends after 30/40 seconds like someone has just pulled the battery from an annoying toy. Any thoughts?
2. Shocking pulling and dipping. When I accelerate it pulls and lifts to the right, when I decelerate it fips to the left. A bit un-nerving when it happens on a bend.
3. I've had the same rear locking issue. The plastic clip came off. It works fine on central locking, it will lock with the key on its own, BUT, if I try to unlock it with the key the mechanism bends and pops the clip off... Like it's deadlocked.
4. EGR valve. I've replaced it with an aftermarket one. I also changed oil, filters etc at same time. Now it has a very flat spot, 1500 to 2000 rpm. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance..🙏
