Fiat Croma 1.9 16v 150ps No power when warm

Hi guys, so where to begin, i bought this chroma as second car to go to work, i do daily fastroad trips, 18 km each day to work and then back, one day we went on longer trip like 180 km, and on way back warning light came on, car was going fine and we came home, i checked with my obd2 reader and torque light, and it said "EGR flow too low", i cleared fault, opened egr and it was bit dirty, cleaned all and mounted back, i start car and go on test ride, all fine till i got engine temp on normal, then it just pised it self and no power at all, no warning lights nothing.

Normal step i went to one workshop for checkup, they had done only software diagnose and said the dpf is blocked like 80 percent and wanted for change of old one to new one like same price i paid for car, i go to second workshop and they check it, second opinion was that turbo is not properly sealed and it should be changed "price 1500+" and then to check for other errors, as the car was not paid too much, is there some known errors that could cause my problems, and what i could alone check on it.

Till now i checked egr walve, it had plate with 4 hooles on it, it was dirty but working properly, i checked hoses from inlet airfilter box to turbo, there is no cuts on any, i moved turbo propeler with hand, there is no play axialy or horizontaly, it spins freely....what more could i trybe before i write it off and send it to junkjard...in blocked dpf i dont belive so much, becouse when i disconect flow meter sensor, car runs when warm and only makes alot of smoke on full gas, i checked sensor on inlet, dont know how its called, i think something like preasure sensor or so, it was so much glued with sot that i took alot of time removing it, cleaned it with carb cleaner and put it back but same....so pls i need some opinions"!`?

Find a workshop who agrees to clean the dpf as it is blocking the exhaust flow.

Do a manual DPF regen/clean on your drive using Fiat multiECU scan. If that does'nt work clean/replace MAP sensor and replace MAF (air flow sensor) if no good. Also look at turbo boost control value. What happens when you take out bullet plate in the EGR ? When fitted it should put the EML on as the flow will be too low, unless they are 4 very big holes, Good luck

Well i had no time, tomorow i will look at it all, what i figured is that there is huge claud of black smoke coming underneath heatshield covering turbo, probably something disconected betwen turbo and exhaust, could that be cause for poor performance when car gets hot? How hard is to remove heatshield and get to turbo ? Any DIYS guides here?

Its not too hard to remove the manifold/turbo heat shield. You might find that 1 or more of the exhaust manifold bolts have broken, but that's far more common on the 2.4 JTD 5 cylinder. 3 of my studs had snapped, so I had mine done by a friend at a garage in March/April, it should have cost about 800-1000 but he did it as a favour as he had a shortage of work in the 1st Covid lockdown. My manifold had to be skimmed as it was warped. Even with 3 studs snapped I didnt have a shortage of power so I dont think that's your problem.

Could this be the oil degradation counter not being reset in addition to the oil mileage counter when the oil is changed.
After 20,000 miles the regen will not happen.
Could need a forced regen.

Broken exhaust manifold studs with leaking exhaust manifold gasket are very common faults for a Fiat engine. You should check that. Loss of power is very common symptom. It may be a combination of issues and that alone might not fix it completely.

Fixing cost few hundred euro if studs can be extracted. If not, it's an engine job then. If you don't plan to keep the car, you could sell it or scrap it especially if it is a high mileage vehicle.

Edit: Also the dpf might block the exhaust, so it may become more expensive.

Re: Fiat Croma 1.9 16v 150ps No power when warm

Well today i managed to remove heatshield and get bit closer to turbo, whole turbo midle part is in black soot, oil is leaking from boost side, i drained cooler today and removed intake parts with filter and all going towards turbo, tomorow after work i will continue, but i could not figure out from where all that sot was coming, when i get to free turbo il check dpf behind it too, probably fully blocked, 2 months ago one ofical service made mistake and didnt tighten oil filter after changing oil. my "check engine light" came on and as i was on highway , i drived fot like 2 km more to my work, they inspected and changed oil again and all was fine till one moth later i get this sh**..

Here is video and photo of turbo, streamable*com/1821q5

Any toughts guys, what could be failed part, this must be coming from manifold as i dont have idea how it could be from turbo it self....

Exclamation Re: Fiat Croma 1.9 16v 150ps No power when warm

When i started car and gave gas, in front from direction of turbo there is alot of black soot coming, i removed mainfold and turbo and only place that was black was the part where turbo is bolted to mainfold, is it posible that gas escaped from there somhow. Turbo is destroyed, waines are stuck and not moving and exhaust part of propeler is bit demaged. New turbo is ordered, what should i look at when puting new turbo, can i usse oil tubes from old turbo on new one, they are not blocked..

AND pls if someone can help me on this question, when i removed turbo, there was no oil on exhaust side, car started consuming oil, so is it posible that oil just burnt up when it went on exhaust or should i see some oil marks???

I hope im not stuck with something else driping oil into engine....DPF is bit dirty but air pases trought normaly, i blown by mouth air trough tube conecting to dpf and going behind toward exhaust, and there vas bit restriction, so rustparticlefilter is probably blocked, could that be cause for all thos problems i had....

Re: Fiat Croma 1.9 16v 150ps No power when warm

I changed turbo, soaked DPF and RustParticleFilter in dpf cleaning liquid, then washed it with high preasure washer both, built it in, put new egr valve, new boost valve, car going great and all,. have to change flex part of exhaust becouse its leaking now....

But one question, i reseted with diagnostic the dpf and particle filter like they are changed with new parts, i done regeneration, and it shows now 70 percent blocked, should i try it one more time or what, shouldnt it be max 10 or 30 percent as car reads both as replaced.
