Well for the first time in 5 years the Croma (19 16VmJTD) failed to start this morning
It turned over, fired, died and then would not fire again. The morning was cold and very damp about +2 degrees C. On the third attempt the in-tank pump sounded very noisy. The engine was turning OK so not a battery issue, immobiliser and glow plug indications all normal. Needing to go to work I gave up and took SWMBO's Focus.
The car had been sat for over a week as I've been in the middle east for work. So after work today I put the supersonic jump pack on it so not to stress the battery and the car started normally first try. I'm off work tomorro so will get Multiecuscan on it and see if there are any stored codes.
The fuel tank was nearly empty, close to warning light being on. The car was on the level and te temperature dropped to -2 or 3 overnight. My best guess at the moment is that water from condenstion in the empty tank collected in the sump, froze overnight and this morning was slushy enough to be picked up by the in-tank punp and block the inlet. I did a couple of short runs tonight including getting some fuel so we will have to wait and see.
