OK, so here is my long story on water in footwell, sit back and relax, while I take you through it. Take note that my croma's driver position is on the left.

So, at first, we had severe rain and passenger drain pipe clogged and I had a pool in passenger footwell. Solved that immediately by cleaning the drain pipe, all well.

But, after a few more rains, I still got the passenger footwell wet, tried everything, and finally noticed that I accidentally moved the short drain pipe from the windshield plastic and positioned it just over the top of the filter housing so watter dripped just into the filter and down to the footwell through the ventilation. So I've extended the tube to go right down to the big drain opening/flap, and finally solved the problem, the passenger footwell was dry again, no problems with that whatsoever. While I was at it, I've noticed some kind of plastic foil tucked on the driver side just between the wiper linkage and the wing, I can't really remember where, and I just pulled it out as it obviously wasn't the part of the car, somebody placed it there and I could not find the purpose for it.

And the tormenting begins: now my drivers footwell is wet. I've tried the obvious, the drain pipe is clean, I've siliconed the hood release cable on where it enters the body, I've looked through and about and just can't find the possible cause of the leak. I've noticed that water comes from the side which is near the wing/door, and that's it.
I have a sunroof, tried to locate the sunroof drain pipes and could not find them, there is no trace of any hole on the roof, and could not find the pipes leadind down through the A pillar, so I've eliminated the sunroof as cause of leakage, since if there are no drain holes on the roof, they can't be clogged.

So I am now completely puzzled and desperate, to add even more to the puzzle I've noticed that no water comes in when car is moving, drove 6 hours through extreme rain, and nothing came in, left car to sit and after few hours, the pool is there again. Maybe someone found out where water was coming in and placed that foil which I removed, and now I am being punished?

And to addition, this is odd, when I pour the water directly to the drain pipe, on the passenger side it goes just down, but if I do it on the driver side, water comes through the 3 holes beneath the car, is this normal?

Do you park with the car tilted sideways, tipping towards the driver's side? It looks like the drainage is based on it being level or tipped to the left, as it would be if parked on the left of a road with camber.

Not the scuttle drain, and tape wouldn't help, because I've extended the small hose directly downwards into the main drain, please notice that now I have the leakage on the other side, the side with air filter is fixed.

It really doesn't matter how I park, I get the rain on flat surface, and even inclined on the oposite side of the source of the leakage.

I am definitely going to strip the damn insulation (it may be difficult, since there is a ton of cables going on the side and then up behind the insulation) and get a hose and pour it and with any luck I'll find the problem.

Hello,

My car has exactly the same problem. I've put silicone everywhere but no result. did anyone solved it? Please let me know.

Hi. It may seem obvious but have you checked the door seals. this used to be a problem years ago on British Leyland cars I had. Real blast from the past. Water collected in the foot wells.

Thanks for your replies. But all these things i checked before. When i put water in the part where the wiper motor is placed, the water gets away thru the hose / drainpipe. But it seems like the water goes in the chassisbeam overthere down below. I've made an extra hose at the drain so the water gets not directly in the chassisbeam and put silicone at the plastic cover that is placed over there. But unfortunatly there is stil water comming under the carpet. Exactly at a little chassisbeam that is welded inside.

Have you got a sun roof or other similar item that makes up part of the roof panel.

If so then there will be drain hoses that go down the A post and C post upper pillars.

Once had a Tempra that leaked water and finally tracked it down not to a blocked hose but to a punctured hose.

The front hoses ran down the windscreen side pillars. To improve noise insulation Fiat filled the pillars with expanding foam. On one side this meant the hose was pressed against the inside facing edge of the pillar. When the screen pillar trim was fitted the plastic trim fixing pin punctured the hose.

Was an absolute *astard of a job to get all the expanded foam out of the pretty much closed pillar to be able to replace the hose!

Hi fbarcode. Have you had any success yet? I have a pool in my passenger footwell (UK right hand drive car). I thought that I had fixed the problem by cleaning out the drain by pollen filter, and fitting a tube from the drain hole through the flap and out to the back of the engine bay. All dried out nicely last weekend with the sunny warm weather. The next time it rained water was sloshing around the passenger footwell again. Sigh...
