I've got another strange, and intermittent, problem with the Croma.

This time sometimes when I put the key in the ignition and turn it to the middle all of the dash lights, radio, etc., come on and everything looks ok.

However, sometimes whenI turn to start everything goes completely dead, even the interior lights don't work and the dash clock either stops (it stays visible but doesn't change) or disappears completely.

This can last either a few to several minutes before the car seems to reset itself and comes back to life.

I'm assuming it's either the main battery or the immobiliser or it's battery that's causing the problem.

It's the original battery but when I put a voltmeter across it I get 13v or thereabouts.

I believe the immobiliser lives in the drivers wheel arch.

Is this correct and how difficult is it to remove the wheel arch liner?

Brian I had something very similar with the old Marea. When my indie mechanic looked into it he found a bad earth (luckily) from the body back to the neg on the battery. He also later had to fit another battery as he noticed that the dimming/ display probs were not present when he connected a good battery to the other by jump leads and all the things returned to normal. It was all ok thereafter.

Thanks guys.

I was sure that I'd read on a different post that someone had a problem with theirs and its battery.

The battery could do with being changed anyway so I'll try that and see if it helps.
