Was reading an old thread last night on here regarding the transmission oil change and, having picked up the tip re the use of the GM/Vauxhall equivalent oil, managed to find some on the internet for £3.35 including VAT a litre (sorry I got the last they had )

One thing I couldn't find reference to, was as to whether the box has a filter that I should be thinking of changing (my 2.4 is the first auto I have had since my old 280 W124 which did have one)?

Is there one to change on the Aisin box, or are they filter free?

They do have a filter, but are a beggar to get to. I was told not to bother, but how good that advice was I'm not sure.

Mine was changed when the gearbox was rebuilt so I can't comment beyond that.

I've just been surfing across several GM and Saab sites and on the basis of what I could find there, none of the Aisin AW TF-8# variants (I believe that ours is the 80 SC) have fluid filters - just a small internal pick-up screen.
