Hello,

So got this error P0482 which indicates "Cooling fan 3 control circuit malfunction". (What does the number 3 stand for?) Is there 3 fans?

However, I looked at this talk and found this on ebay. Do you think my problems would go away by buying it? By looking at this the error could also be in one of the sensors? ePER gives three choices 71740474/5/6 but I can only find the one ending with 5 from ebay. My 1.9JTD -07 Croma is Automatic.

The car is in limp mode all the time. I tried charging the battery and clearing the error codes but to no avail. And it seems like the temperature rises beyond normal.

Finally had the time to go to the vehicle. Checked the fuses first but they were okay. The current control unit fitted in my car is Valeo 874705C . So a bit trickier one to find than the one Caravadossi changed to his car in another thread.

Also the unit is very hard to remove due to small working space. Ran out of daylight today, have to try again tomorrow.

Try the sister ships – Vectra-Charlie (GM P/No 13167340?) … not sure if Alfa 159 & Saab 9-3 also applies.

Yeah, thanks. I'll do that. BTW anyone struggling with this same thing. I have some experience fixing stuff, small stuff on cars and motorcycles, but I was unable to disconnect the big wire from the control unit. I only broke the fastening piece and will be taking the car to a shop tomorrow. So be careful out there, the thing sure is fastened tight.

Soo, finally got the old unit off the vehicle. I opened it and sprayed some CRC in it and did some cleaning. Installed the thing back in the car and BAM! Two new errors P0480 and P0481. This thing has an awful design on it so it's quite weird that not more people have this problem.

But I ordered a used unit from some Vectra yesterday and hope it will fix the problem.

New unit arrived but no help. Other two errors are now gone again but P0482 persists.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm getting desperate.

I have exactly the same problem ( but me its P0480 ) i have change the Blower motor resistor, mine is 870736U VALEO and no help. :bang::bang:

With a laptop and Delphi DS150E i can turn on for check fan speed 2 but not the fan speed 1 !

I think this is the radiator cooling fans relays. On my 2.4 its behind the top of the front radiator, mine filled up with water, internal corrosion, took 3 weeks to get from Italy, £150, a Valeo part but not listed. Only 35 2.4 cromas sold in UK.

It turned on the radiator fan when parked and flattened the battery.
Could have been caused by pressure washing through the radiator.
