HI all, new to the site. Just bought myself a 2005 Prestigio auto 98K with leather on ebay and picked it up yesterday. Drove it from south of England to Liverpool without any problems (very comfortable and economical). After reading a lot of threads on this site re multiple problems with the croma, why doesn't anyone recommend buying a used car warranty. I have researched this and have two companies who will supply an All Mechanical and All Electrical warranty for 3 years for £380.00 Any thoughts or knowledge on the matter would be appreciated

read the small print hardly anything is covered and you need to have car serviced in a garage, a lot here self service

:yeahthat:

I also will not buy an insurance policy that they try and sell as a warrantee, as a warrantee it very much is not.

Often requires an excess or percentage contribution, useless for anyone doing anything above 12k miles a year when I last checked a few years back.

It sounds reasonable, but anything with "4you" in its name must be dodgy in my book. Anyone with a bit of web design knowledge could chuck a shiny website together, collect money for a year then close the business (after draining it of cash with inflated salaries, expenses etc).

The fact they want three years money upfront should set alarm bells ringing.

I've bought a .Myvehiclewarranty.co.uk one in the past, no problems. Get a quote and download their gold cover and check it out. Same with vehicle warrenty4you. Click4warranty.co.uk can be checked on line. The amount of money you guys seem to be spending on repairs is rather a lot. Even sunroofs are covered

How many claims have you made then?

Your post count seems suspicious, 66% about this topic

I have an AA warranty that's linked to my Breakdown cover. £15 a month and they pay the 1st £500 of any claim. That includes roadside recovery and relay. You can choose any garage that is VAT registered and they pay them over the phone - allegedly! Not had to use it yet so can't comment, though I have thoroughly read the small print and seems to cover everything. Even wear and tear items like battery etc.

All these websites look like the sort of thing Matt Allwright or Dominic Littlewood will be featuring... Mr Gullible handed over £x00 to this warranty company that doesn't even give its own company name and operates from short-term rented office space, and all of a sudden they've gone out of business and his money's gone.

Click4Warranty actually state they're FSA-registered, and it appears to be true, but I don't know exactly what that means in practice.

If anyone wants a nice cheap warranty, please put £500 in cash in an envelope and meet me outside the pub - I'll give you a piece of paper to say you're covered for 10 years. Then you'll have complete peace of mind.

I thought that sounded good - we usually spend a lot more than £15 per month trying to make our Croma work properly.

A quick google, and it seems that the AA warranty only covers what's listed. They also won't cover wear and tear, which could possibly rule out anything related to the brakes, engine, gearbox, etc, etc. Still, what do you expect for a few quid?

I might look into it further though - I've seen a mix of good and bad experience of it, but I probably won't bother.

AA warranty is good but it covers £500 worth of trouble less £50 excess, BUT you must breakdown and call AA. Used this twice for and alternator and starter motor.
As for Myvehiclewarranty.co.uk didn't need to use it as I had a honda, nuff said. I'm not defending warranty companies but jesus if you dont want to take a chance why the hell did buy a croma in the first place. Seems to me what you save on purchase price you pay out in repairs. Google reviews on individual companies and read small print. So what if the warranty is insurance backed. If its registered with fsa, thats good surely.
