General A general Croma intrest

Been searching for VAG KKR and it comes back blank but by mistake I type VAG KKL and got loads fitting your description. Says its the right one for the job starting at £7.49.
Cleaned the sensors as much as I could today and then released when I got the car put some HID lights in as I do a lot of night driving and when I installed them I disconnected the MAF sensor on the air filter so I had more room to work. Only found what that thing was on here from you guys so could I have started this string of trouble? Although doesn't explain why my old EGR valve was stuck shut I guess

Hey, check also these pipes. They often have unseen cracks and you will lose the boost/power. I've learned the hard way lol. Also check that boost control solenoid on the bottom right, if that is stuck or its filter its clogged, your turbo will not work. Here is a pic I just took from one of my videos and made some quick red arrows pointing the pipes you should check, applied also some yellow highlighter on the pipes.

Here's also a link to a how 2 clean the boost control solenoid, on the Vectra-C forum, but you will need to register to view the thread. Now it may not be the case for this clean, but you'll never know.
How to: Fix Boost Control Solenoid

Good Luck,

Rob

Ha ha no they ain't eyeball melters I hare them idiots that have lights that are too bright. I drive up and down A590 at night and the original bulbs just don't cut it. Not something I'd do for street cred in a fiat croma is it..

Upgraded bulbs make a massive difference, no need for HIDs. The bulbs mine came with (possibly factory original) were total junk.

I guess as long as you don't light up the back of the car in front then they're probably fine (i.e. pointing down). I once had someone behind me with HIDs and you could see the shadow of my car projected in front of me, and all the signs ahead were lit up. Bloody idiotic. I accidentally switched on my rear fog lights.

Roberto awesome help found a small crack on the pipe mine a bit different from yours but I found it. Also the EGR valve had sucked some more crap up from the pipe, the air filter and sensors all needed cleaning but seems to be purring like a kitten now. Just put some duck tape around the crack on the pipe for now until I get a new 1 unless there is a way to do it with out??
Big thanks to all you guys you saved me loads thank you

Doofer yeah I know get arseholes like that all the time on a590. Cost me £200 to get the back window tinted to try prevent it from blinding me.

Oh god the accelerator peddle feels really light now it's like pushing down on nothing. What have done?

Could just be a spring thats become unhooked or broken? If the car runs ok then it may be that something may have been "lodged" in the mechanism and freed itself. Dont forget its "fly by wire" with no acc cable.
Its very easy to get in a muck sweat about things that happen to your pride and joy, god only knows I`ve done my share of  over the years and its usually been a small thing(y).
Thank god for the internet!! 30yrs earlier it could have saved me a mint in phone calls and Practical motorist mags!!:(

Hey. Can anyone help me out with this problem. Been doing a lot of tinkering and clean with the engine and I spotted 2 wires that look like they have been cut?? See pic and anyone tell me what they do
Cheers

Its the "water in the fuel" sender and mine is just as yours although the two missing wires have been blanked off with small green plastic plugs. Cannot think what the two spares are for but on a Petrol model there may be some other kind of warning ie level of fouling in the filter and they have to run the extra wires in the harness. Panic ye not !!!(y)

Thank god! For a second was thinking someone out for the kill and taking out on the croma ha ha. Cheers

Eurocarparts do a good set of belt/ tensioners. Do not forget to change the waterpump at the same time. With the car being new to you why not change the aux belt and tensioner&idler as well for peace of mind.
My son has just bought an Alpha 159 with the same 16v engine and 65k on the clock. No evidence of it having anything changed and as it was 5+ yrs old we got £300 knocked off by the dealer. When my independent did the whole lot he found the waterpump to be weeping a bit but not too bad, the timing belt was starting to look rough at the edges and the aux belt was almost in shreds with cracks across the belt in several places. when he got the spring loaded tensioner off the aux belt he found it seized which explains the belt condition.
Believe me it pays to change the lot(y)

Hey back again! Does anyone know when I should get a new cam belt?

if you don't know or have a bill for when it was last done (with all the bits that go with it) then do it now.
Otherwise if its my car i got with belt manufactures recommendations of 3 years 36k. some leave longer but i do the lottery and that's enough gambling for me

I'd best get it done. Iv noticed its started to squeak a little bit so I doubt if its been changed and it's on 80k. Thank you
