You must have had a respray for the paintwork on a Croma to look like that.

Very nice - and tasteful too. It just needs a couple of big stripes up the bonnet and roof. Try magnolia dulux and a roller.

We don't all use our Croma's as pick up trucks, Doofer!

I haven't hurt ours at all, it was the previous owner - I think he must have been doing 60mph on dirt tracks. Pebble chips all up the sides and bonnet. Ah well, it was cheap, and it's galvanised. The only person I'll be selling mine to is a scrapyard in about ten years.

It is galvanised, but it gets rusty very easy. Some down area on my front and rear wings are sandblasted after the winter and the exposed area had rust on it. Here are some pictures where you can see what happened. On the front ones is even more bad, but I already cleaned and painted, so I have no pictures, but last photo shows the the area which was sandblasted, its exactly the small area remained unprotected by the plastic cover. All this because of the sand they throw on the roads when its icy.

Sorry for off topic, but it may interest all of you.

So it's not just me then. The dealer resprayed the NS doors and sills before I bought it. I then got the OS doors and sills sprayed after. It's been fine while in my care though - well, a few chips but nothing like what the previous owner did to it in fewer miles. It was in Scotland though.

The galvanising is just a coat, like any paint I suppose. A deep scratch will go through it.

The NS paintwork is now going dull. As I said though, my Croma's just a workhorse. It gets a good wash and a hoover and polish inside every now and then, plus a wax every 6 months or so. With my paintwork it wouldn't be worth trying to make it look good, so it's a good excuse to not care about it.

I did do some chip-filling and smoothing on the bonnet after I got it, and I was quite surprised how thin the clear lacquer is - a couple of rubs and you're through it. I'm not an expert though, but I'm sure it was a fair bit thicker on my previous Kia.
