Just to save someone else having lots of hassle and expense. Evans Halshaw have a 1.9 diesel Croma for sale for just under £3K (RE05 OTK). There are some hidden problems with this car that they will not fix which are as follows:

1) It needs a whole new inlet manifold as the actuator bar has broken off (£979 if supplied and fitted by Fiat). Its 90% certain it w ll also need a new EGR valve (£251 Fiat), cheaper elsewhere.
2) It has an oil leak, they wont fix
3) Power steering occasionally fails
3) The sunroof opens but wont shut, they lubricated it and its still the same
4) No history of cambelt/waterpump change and its very overdue as car is over 7 years old

unhidden
5) Front grill is broken
6) Dented n/s rear wheel arch
7) Wheels are all kerbed and need a refurb
8) Front and back bumpers both painted, match is not perfect

And no they won't reduce the price. They know about the faults but they still plan to sell the car as it is, I leave you to make your own mind up of what you think of that. I am amazed a big dealer would sell a car knowing it has major problems. And if you take it back they wont fix it, as for them things like the inlet manifold are not part of their checks and not warrented. You have been warned !

Even if it was low mileage it's still a very full price even without all the faults.

Can't see how they could argue that it's fit for purpose with all of that wrong with it.

How do you know it's got all of that wrong with it and they won't fix any of it?

I was interested in buying it, but after speaking to the previous owner and after closer inspection I found many faults. It may have more, but these are the ones I know of. Garage refused to put it right as it would cost them too much. The car has a big shortage of power under 2000rpm due to the knacked swirl flaps in the intake manifold.

It might sound like a nightmare but this isn't all that unusual a list for a croma that hasn't had a lot of maintenance for a couple of years.

Can't imagine any dealer would get away with selling a car to someone with an oil leak, dodgy power steering and a lack of power as it can't be fit for purpose. Indeed a car with a power steering problem probably isn't even safe.

It's all a bit academic really, as nobody's going to buy it at that price anyway.

They'll probably sit on it for a couple of months at this price then chuck it in an auction.

Let's hope nobody buys it anyway. Still, if you saw it on the forecourt and saw what else you could get for, lets say, £2750 you might think you were getting a bit of a bargain. Especially if you didn't know about the Croma's issues.
