Technical DPF clogged, regen failed maybe?

yes some things ive read say all diesel vehicles after october 2006 use it, but not seen any posts about it here so am thinking its not for cars?

Some cars use a special fluid to assist with regens, but it's designed to almost last the life of the car, small 1L tank lasts 100k miles before needing refilling. Some stuff on google, AA training site iirc.

Ditto please - some of your wise words of guidance would be appreciated. This is probably something we'll all encounter.

What was your mileage when it clogged?

100k but i think it only got clogged because when it was at body shop they was driving it back an forth to dealers and around their yard, engine light came on dpf code was found and instead of doing forced regen they just reset light,

you don't need a guide, remove dpf put aerosol lid on pipe end fill with acid, leave for about an hour, drain it into a bucket, let dirt settle to bottom, pour the clean acid off the top into other end, let it soak in, tip dpf back an forth to try drain as much acid out into bucket, jet wash rest of acid out.
i am informed acid does not destroy any precious metals in dpf

You can't get a dpf to regenerate while stationary. You must be moving but if it's already blocked its too late. The other code flow shutter valves means you need a new inlet manifold. I did one on the vauxhall Astra 1.9 16v. It wasn't a nice job. It is supposed to put extra fuel down exhaust but in my experience it never works. Also that is correct about the degrading of the oil it must be in good condition. Hope it helps.

Regarding DPF requirments these basically became manditory when Diesel Euro 5 legislation came into effect. However many manufacturers (like Fiat) implement DPFs on Euro 4 cars like the Croma back in 2005.

Here is a link http://www.nextgreencar.com/caremissions.php to nice time table, Euro n criteria and levels, plus some other generally good reading / info.

Next big change is Euro VI in Sept.2015. Looking at the table there is a planned HUGE drop in CO for petrol cars. Diesel looks ok except for the near halving NOx and I suppose this will be achived by even greater levels of EGR. Think I'm going to set up a Chimney Sweep business. Nice set of inlet manifold brushes, cleaner and vacuum cleaner. Hopefully swirl valves will be a thing of the past and giving the inlet manifold and branches a bloody boring with brushes will not break anything.

car is driving like EGR is dead very slow to pull away, once you get going its ok. conected MES got 1 code p2009 flow shutter valve, searched forum this is the only thread with that code  dpf is fine this time only at 23%

oh highest egr goes is 35% so is it my problem? never got around to cleaning it this summer

Hy!

I have the same problem on my 1,9 jtd bravo. The dpf was clogged, the ecuscen showed 96,4%. After a regenartion it was 80%. BUT! I drove 30km 4500-5000rpm, and the clogging was below 21%. Then i made a regenartion, and the clogging was 80%. How could it be?

Hi i already read your post in the bravo section i think it is a different problem, maybe a sensor is giving wrong readings? its very strange going from 21% to 80% after a regen
