Hello Croma owners,

I want to buy a diagnostic tool for my Croma 1.9JTD 16v and I don`t know what to choose from the ones existing on the market. All I want is to check if there are some errors on ECU, erase the service interval when I change my oil and stuff , disable the belt buzzer which was disabled when I bought the car, but i played with the options in menu, put it on and then the belt buzzer option disappeared. I would like to know if some of you use a diagnostic tool and what can you do with it, and maybe you can help me choose one too.

I thank you in advance,
Roberto

I got mine a couple of years ago, but I got the cheapest option, which is a transparent blue cable with a USB plug on one end and a lump that plugs directly into the car on the other. I searched ebay for VAG COM. This looks to be the best buy at the moment, loads of good feedback saying it works well...

It wasn't listed as being for a Fiat when I bought it - I think it was developed for VW/Audi group cars, but there are lots of others you can use it with (they're all Bosch).

Already ordered the ELM. That`s why I asked in the first place what you guys use, so I can buy the exact interface which you already tested. On multiecuscan I saw that I can connect with ELM and OBDkey for what I want. I don`t know nothing about these tools, never needed one and again ..that`s why I asked. Also on multiecuscan website they say something about some problematic ELM interfaces, but they also say how you can repair them. I hope it`s working ...

got a vagkkl switchable cable £13 on ebay.works perfect with multiecuscan on my croma.

My very cheap one just gives access to the engine, which happens to be the only one I actually need for oil changes etc.

Does your adaptor give you full access to all the different modules?

Any chance of a link to it or similar if you can find it?

Update!

Ok, got the interface, connected to engine ECU, but failed to connect to body computer or other modules. I saw something on multiecuscan site about the faulty ELM 327 interfaces, made the change, which was to remove the 120ohm resistor marked in the photos and after that I was able to connect with all the modules. I made some pictures of the ELM 327 interface if someone is interested. Cheers !

Roberto

Hi Roberto

I would have responed to save you the hassle of messing around with bad Elm interfaces but I have been away for a few days.

Firstly great knew you got it sorted.

For everybody else interested in FiatECUScan/MultiECUScan and more importanly hardware compatible with the Fiat CAN Bus then you must read the Multiecuscan website and the link (http://forum.multiecuscan.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1493)
about faulty Elm interfaces.

Secondly I would strongly recommend only buying hardware from one of the listed "Authorised Distributors" of MultiECUScan.

Here in the UK Gendan get my 5 star rating and their prices are competitive and their support excellent.

I will add that there will be other sources/suppliers of equal support and quality as Gendan provide but you must do a little research before deciding.

Currently in the stable a beat up 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe workhorse, a 2008 Seat Altea Xl parade horse and a 2009 Fiat Punto pony. Eyeing the restyiling 2008-2009 Croma that you guys never got for around 6000 Eur in Serbia.

Like S130 i got mine of Gendan,Vag com and ELM included.Only ever needed the ELM though.Worked perfect straight out the box once it was activated by Gendan.
