Thumbs down woman drove into the back of me

no one badly hurt

some thing from behind the bumper has popped through, bumper has popped out the side, am hoping its just bumper and not boot as gap between bumper and boot on drivers side is now big enough to poke my little finger in.

not sure if boot is bent in a little below handle?

parking sensors have stopped working again

I was just waiting in traffic and so was she, next thing bang as she has drove into the back of me, she said she thought all the other cars had moved off she gave me her card and she is a yogo teacher (www.yogababe.co.uk she was no babe) i thought yoga was supposed to help you focus your concentration?

What a bummer. You've not had it 5 minutes.

Seriously, I would get a professional assessment, what might look like superficial damage can sometimes cost a fortune to repair.

Have you? Well bugger me sideways, seems like only yesterday. Mind I don't feel like I've had mine as long as I have. (nearly six years now)

Re: woman drove into the back of me

It's worth checking your insurance policy to see whether it includes legal protection insurance - it's usually an option that's selected by default. If you've got this cover then they'll deal with the whiplash and any other incidental expenses/compensation etc.

If you don't have cover then you're on your own for claiming these expenses back from her or her insurers, but it's still worth calling your own insurers to check - they'll often pursue minor claims for you anyway. It is possible to claim for a whiplash claim on your own, but it's a little involved - you need to arrange and pay for a private medical check-up and know how to deal with it. Insurers often try to fob people off who are claiming without a solicitor/claims company. Be very wary of the "no win no fee" brigade. They often take a hefty percentage of the compensation.

If your insurers are going to pursue your other claims then they'll probably need to deal with the repairs too. Under the circumstances there's 0% chance you'll lose your no claims discount, provided she's insured.

I'd assume the back bumper is similar to the front, which I have taken off. There's lots of metalwork that's designed to collapse in an impact - kind of like a concertina that just needs a press to make it fold up. It could have compressed underneath, then the plastic's sprung back out, so it won't be protecting you from future impacts. I'd think it's pretty likely there's damage under there. I think it's all bolt-on stuff though, so it should be simple to replace.

I've never heard of claiming for a crying baby - I doubt it's claimable.

Talking Re: woman drove into the back of me

happened to me.......bumper marked, knock the sensor brackets off.....glued them on again with qbond......

there is a reinforcer behind....that may be marked but doubt it looking at your pics...

the bumper takes about 30 mins to remove.......easy job, you dont need to remove the inner boot trims as stated in the fiat manual

Re: woman drove into the back of me

its going to a fiat approved bodyshop now, but fiats accident repair team wont let them take my car in and start work until new parts are on site

obviously they dont know how cars are built as body shop may find it needs more bits after bumper is removed

Re: woman drove into the back of me

Given the overall lack of knowledge about these cars in FIAT UK, I surprised they didn't write it off.
