My Croma boot will only open from the key button; I have set the menu option to 'open all'
When I unlock the car, i cannot hear the boot solenoid operating, nor when I try to open the boot from the button on the hatch will it open.

Any ideas guys?

Sounds like mine was when I first got it...

Mine was fixed in the end by updating some software. It was done by the Fiat dealer. Might be worth going for a minor job and see if they'll do it at the same time for nothing.

Does yours unlock if you do unlock-lock-unlock?
I will try the lock unlock test & see what happens, Im lucky in that I used to work for a Fiat main dealer still have close links with them so I will ask them to check the software when Im back in UK as away in Spain working at present

My Croma was doing the same thing when I first had it.

When the BCU went and had to be replaced the Fiat Dealer had to reload the software with the latest version and the boot lock has worked perfectly ever since. - touch wood!;)

Have had the software checked & all is up to date, they have diagnosed the boot solenoid at fault but as it works via key button I will leave it at present as new part is £170.00

I'd bet it's about a tenth of that price if you pull it out and find out what it actually is - I doubt it's a Fiat part, but something they buy in and slap a vast margin on.

probably true: I trust the garage as I used to work for them and I still know them well

Sorry, I wasn't meaning to imply the garage were slapping the margin on, I mean Fiat are probably buying a solenoid from some electrical parts maker, sticking it in a Fiat bag then charging 10x its price. I'm sure the garage is quoting the Fiat price and would buy from Fiat - it's Fiat that I don't trust!

I'd bet it will have a part no on that you'd find with google - it's probably Bosch or something, and used in dozens of cars.

I just can't imagine why Fiat would need to custom-design something as simple as a solenoid.

I know you weren't implying anything about the dealership: I know how franchised dealers work and I know that its the manufacturer that sets the parts prices etc.
