that saab is ugly

I quite like them, although the saloon is prettier. They're keeping their value too well though - I was hoping they'd get super-cheap after Saab went bust, but it doesn't seem to be happening. Cromas are still a better buy for equivalent age, but newer Saabs are available. I do like the Saab interior though.

A Vectra or Signum is another wildcard option. But they do look cheap inside. The more recent Signum just looks like an enlarged Astra to me. Cheap though...

High mileage bargain...

I’ve been keeping-an-eye on them …

HG08 JPU Saab 9-3 1.9 TID 120 Airflow 89Kmls went for £4.2 at BCA/Nottm.

WV09 NVO Insignia 2.0 CDTI 150 80Kmls went for £6.5K at BCA/Nottm.

With £6.5K to hand – a Alfa 159 looks attractive … but what problems does that invite?

Only up-to 73K mls, Doof – & at present rate-of-knots 120K is maybe some 4 years hence. By then I’ll probably be jockeying something more low-altitude like a TGA Breeze Mk5 – with some ex-Saab Gripen kit (Sidewinders & Mauser cannon).

Ah - now I see. You seem to be doing one mile per day, except on the last day of the month when it goes up to the next hundred and one.

I had a google and the TGA Breeze looks very nice. It might look a bit odd with a caravan though.

UPDATE :

There are 2 Croma's locally that seem interesting and need to viewed and test driven.

and

Though not as new, but mileage simular its worth a look.

No point reviewing the above after the weekend. 1 had the dive shaft issue the other very clonky suspension and very weak brakes. Both heavily over priced, based on work that is required.

I doubt that I will be able to fill the void of my late plate Croma with a quality one.

I also doubt that any Fiat will fill the void that the Croma has left. No Fiat at the moment that is affordable has the same space or comfort.

My sis advised me to consider a Multipla, not me really and on the engineering side, I would be going backwards, than forward, unlike the Croma.

The only car, that ticks some of the boxes within the Fiat Group is an Alfa 159 Sportwagon, but it lacks some of the space.

I fear after 18 years with the brand, it maybe coming to an end if I cannot find a very good Croma.

I don't know what I'd replace mine with if it was crunched.

There are plenty of other cars about, but I've really got to like the high-up seat and walk-in doors. Without getting anything van-like or totally weird-looking I can't think of anything else similar.

You've got too much money to buy a Croma! You could always get a cheapo and keep a wad of leftover cash.

That looks ready for a museum! I know it's a Merc, but that's a hack of a lot of money for a 19-year old car. There must be corrosion issues at that age, however well it was made - steel just wants to rust, whatever the badge on it.

The interior reminds me of a vintage railway carriage.

A not to unreasonable price really considering the condition, and not all cars - even some Italian - will be rusting away even at 20+ years old ;)

I guess some understand the value and often the apprechating of certain ageing cars more than others.

Not these. Mercedes used to mill them out of solid girders.:)

You can find good unrestored versions of these with no rust at all.

Too much time has passed, and yes I have not found a Croma to my liking. I high expectations. Think its very unlikely now that I will find a Croma as good as I had.

I tested 2 x Alfa 159 S-Wagons, 1 being the 1.9 mjet and the other a killer quick 2.4 mjet, but me thinks, that my husband " FiatFleetFamily " is lingering for one of these in the future and I like a softer ride, but build quality was excellent.

I have since tested a Mercedes Benz B Class 200cdi, which despite its very roomy cabin, suits me better, think I will be switching to the dark side.

Feel like a traitor if I switched to the Dark Side of MB ownership.

Having probs here guys finding a good one . Help me if you can ?
