Hello all - I have an ABS fault on my 05 Croma, which I've traced to a faulty sensor on the front n/s hub. Sadly, that means replacing the hub as the sensor is an integral part. Does anyone have one available or know of a Croma being broken anywhere where I might be able to source one. I'm trying to avoid paying my local FIAT dealer £200 if I can!

thanks in advance..

Cabbie..

The FIAT part number you need is 51748680 and is the same both sides and for all models. This is not unique to the Croma but is also used on the SAB 9-3 and the Vectra C (COMPATIBLE GM NUMBERS; 93186388 93178661 1603295 1603255). Without doubt you will get a Vauxhall one cheaper.

Here’s some alternatives for you.

One for £115

One for £91.80

And one for £55.

However I would check this last one as he claims it fits FIAT and VX models although none of the OE part numbers he has quoted are FIAT part numbers, but they do correspond to the alternative GM part numbers.

Oh and welcome to the forum - or the Croma Owners Support Group; as in "My name is Ken and I own a Croma......" type of support group. We know they are bad for us but we just can't give them up.

Radlet - top man!! That really is the most helpful reply. I've been following up on Croma's being broken - including the one you pointed out. Hubs seem to be about £70 s/h, plus postage. As you suggested, I can probably get a 'generic' GM cheaper and closer to home, so that is what I shall pursue, first of all...

Thanks again for you help...

I suggest you also try your local Motor Factors. Quote them the Fiat part number. It will probably coss reference as a Vauxhall part and it will be at least half the price of a Fiat dealer and be exactly the same part as your faulty one, same manufacturer and numbers stamped on the part. I had to replace a rear hub assembly on my Croma due to pot hole damage. Cost me 60 something pounds from my local Factors. When taken out of the box it was exactly the same part with manufacturers name and markings identical in everyway as per the old unit, and complete with the ABS sensor. Fiat price at the time £147 plus the VAT. Good luck. Kadee.

Using the part numbers provided by Radlet, there are plenty on e-bay, so that might be the way I go. For 80 quid and free postage, this seems to fit the bill...

search e-bay for item no, 300607492618 (sorry, not allowed to post links until I have made 5 postings)

Just to follow up - I fitted two of the £55 ebay units to my 2.4 last weekend with no problems, they seem OK so far but I haven't done that many miles since (about 200).
