Mice???

Could the squeak just be an engine mounting rubber?

BTW, it is not a good idea to listen too attentively for squeaks, clonks and other noises. That way madness lies. Just wait until it goes wrong and then fix it.

A wise mechanic's words to me once: "Let it develop."

My manual makes a few squawks now and then, especially if pushing hard then letting go all of a sudden. Is there a waste gate on the turbo with these - it sounds to me like there could be.

it could be the EGR actuator that kicks @ about 2000rpm, which is normal and it's sounds like an actual spring squeak and it has been discussed extensively here and on vectra c forum.

EGR valve?

This was my first fault too! :D Then the...

sunroof
battery
alternator
springs
etc...

looking at other thread people are saying Check engine comes on if there is an egr fault, i have no message or light

read posts on cleaning, think i'll have a go at that anyway

EGR valve fault doesn't automatically evoke engine warning light. I suspect this is the most likely cause, it was how mine behaved.

New ones can be had on fleabay for less than £100. (Vectra C or Saab). there are two different types. The one for the 8v motor is a three bolt fixing, the 16v is a four bolt. Also best to fit a restrictor plate (FIAT) for a fiver, helps to stop it sooting up.

There is another thread about this

Some of the terminology is a bit strange - I think it's been translated from Italian by an Italian.

I haven't got eLearn installed at the mo, but I can always find what I need by browsing through the various section headings. Aim towards the exhaust and you should bump into it.
