Hello guys,my croma seems to have developed a boost leak. Its a 2.4 model.I very rarely drive this car as its my wifes. But the other day i used it,and with the window down the noise seems to be herendess from the drivers side,i am quite sure i would have noticed this before, which makes me think its just came.
As a result ive took a day off work and removed every single intake pipe up to the intake manifold. The reason for this was after a quick scan i noticed the radiator was not sat in the top mounts. Thus its rubbed through the bottom rubber hose coming off the steel turbo pipe. This will be taken up with dealer were it came from. This hose has been replaced today by me.
The intercooler has also been pressure tested today in front of myself by a company we use alot.No fault found with the cooler.
Ive rebuilt the intake side today, which has taken me all day and ive double clipped all the hoses.Ive also replaced the steel gasket on the turbo steel pipe.
But were still left with the boost leak, any ideas please?Ive heard storys of the intake manifold jibbing. But ive tested this by running the engine and covering the mouth off with a number plate and the engine cuts out straight away, surely if it was lossing air at that point it would also suck through it and carry on running?
Its now booked on the dyno tomorow to see if we can locate the leak and stick it under a bit of load.Any ideas please? thanks seth
