... I only ask as it seems to be working perfectly and is an absollute joy to drive! :slayer: It can't last, surely? :yuck:

After winter it was a clogged up, 28mpg at best, mess. A spot of STP in a tank of normal diesel, followed by a tank of the special stuff and a spell of "Drifink like ze most famous owner off ze Chrroma" [/really bad Michael Schumacher impression] seems to have solved it.

Now for the electronics left knackered by the cold weather...

I must say cromachris, the Croma is very good at decieving you like this, I don't like to tempt fate but mine has also been behaving lately, let's hope it stays like it :D

...Probably!

Mind you, the "Change your engine oil" warning light was working just fine this morning... D'OH! If that's my only warning light this year I'll be a very happy man!

Mine's been absolutely perfect for ages now. I think I've replaced all the dodgy parts now, other than the front springs.

Note to self: Check timing belt replacement interval in manual.

Yup, mine has just come on as well. No doubt answered somewhere but how do you reset it once the change is done?

Can ONLY be reset via diagnostic equipment. Unlike some other cars there are no hidden tricks (like pressing brake pedal, holding trip reset counter in and turning ignition on....etc....etc.)

Fiat ECUScan can reset it and do loads of other stuff (http://fiatecuscan.net)

WARNING! Do NOT be tempted to just leave the light on and not have it reset. Doing this will cost you a shed load of money. Basically the engine ECU will deem the oil to be of insufficient quality to protect the engine during a DPF regeneration cycle and so will not initiate a DPF regen. The DPF will clog so badly that it will probably require replacing. Quick way to burn £1500.

Good advice.

I hadn't quite pieced that together in my mind enough to realise that it would cause that to (not) happen.

I am particularly paranoid about such things as my journey to work is quite short, so the Croma will not have the time to warm up and regen. Cosequently I need it to be able to regen when I do my weekend trips.

I thought I had read that somewhere on here. Have had it changed aand reset now but how many folk are going to get caught out by that one - not that there are many Cromas about.

More proof that modern cars are too damn complex.

Bring back carburettors and points.

And while we're at it, bring back black and white TVs and ZX spectrums! :D

Not just Croma's applies to all vehicles with DPF
