General non UK Cromas?

General non UK Cromas?

I just saw this post. Yes there are many Cromas around – in Italy, plus since end of 2007 they all had a restyling job to the nose which really makes them much better looking and less anonymous. Other minor tweaks to rear, and interior seat trim. Go for 'Emotion' model with 1.9 150cv engine its superb. Ours has now done just 43,000 miles and the only problem was both driveshafts had to be replaced, other than that no real probs at all. Check out Google images and try new Croma 2010 as keywords. Pictures don't need words whatever the language.

Have you seen the new Peugeot 508SW? its a complete carbon copy of the now sadly defunct Croma, see: http://www.peugeot.it/La-nostra-gamma/Vetture/508SW/Scopri-la-508SW/
Its all down to marketing and how crap FIAT are at selling cars. Why is it there are Vauxhall Signums, Volvos, etc who all have similar looking cars but manage to sell 'em. Just much much better marketing.

FIAT UK were still able to get a Croma with the new body and rhd but only on special order direct from them. Not sure whether that still applies.

Fiat of course are now bringing out the Fiat Freemont, basically an ugly lumbering Chrysler 300 with a Fiat badge as a replacement. Ughh.

But there's also talk of this being made too - the Croma 3V

I know there is greater collaboration between manufacturers but this kind of badge engineering won't sell cars in Europe. People buy Italian cars for their style and soul - this is just a piece of yank tin.

I'll have an estate version of that please.

Actually, it looks like a photoshopped bent and stretched saloonified version of our Cromas. Which is probably where the photo came from in the first place.

hmmm, very nice, but all too late and out of date. Pre the 'current' 2008-2010 styling. So this won't happen unless they decide to build it in Turkey. (it is a bit similar to the Linea).

You must have taken ages photoshopping that. Oh, hang on...

Nah, I've changed my mind now - it looks rubbish.

:D

I don't like the facelift one. Perhaps it's because I'm used to seeing mine, but it looks like the front and back are different cars. Plus I don't think curves have ever worked on big cars - they just end up looking swollen.

I didn't buy a Croma as it was pretty though. I got it as it was cheap, luxurious and practical. Style isn't top of my list - we did previously have a Berlingo!

So that's it for the Croma then - just a brief revival of a previously dead name. RIP.

...and is that really a safe way to prop a boat? Is it sitting on its fin thing with just a bunch of loose props leaned around it? I haven't seen that done before.

Not really being much of a nautical man myself I would normally shy away from offering boat based advice but I think you will find Bathsheba will be easier to sail if you add water.

It's sat in a cradle, and the props are pinned to the ground. The fin is plenty strong enough to take the weight of the boat.

Oh and congrats to dave on his croma purchase. Will you be the first to try replacing the front end with the mk2 panels and bonet?

you mean debadged like this?

:slayer::slayer::slayer::slayer:

seriously there are no debadged grills for Croma, the crome can be easily taken off and the crome strip wrapped but the only way to take out the badge will be to cut and graft fuse plastic pieces from another croma grill.
