I'm sure it is the same company that I wrote to a long while ago, direct to their fleet manager (after phoning up) to enquire for ALL of us about their experiences and problems etc. running the Croma.

I got no reply, nil, nout..... Was not impressed.
Typical taxi company then! :D But seriously though it goes to show that these cars are not too bad overall, despite wanting to do a Basil Fawlty on mine earlier this year, I intend to keep it and run it into the ground, two years and counting. Bob

I heard that they had a lot of problems with the DPF's clogging up - caused by drivers idling on the ranks.

Bit ambitious with the £2k asking price though. Someone has offered him £20k for all 20 cars which he has turned down. Seemed quite reasonable to me - he isn't going to get much more selling them individually. I think £1200 would have to be the absolute limit for this one.

Presumably the owner doesn't know about the prices of used Cromas.

You could get one with much lower mileage for the same kind of money. A grand each was a totally fair offer.

I would have thought £1k each for 20 was a fair deal. Makes you wonder who wanted 20 of them tho. Unless they thought they could then clock them and make a profit.

More likely parts and/or export. Croma has become a very popular used car in all of Central/Eastern Europe due to low prices in Italy. Granted the steering wheel is on the wrong side but all body panel, engine parts etc are perfectly good for spares. Plus for a low price that it would come out to imported some people would drive a RHD in the LHD country.

I was surprised to see there were 3 bids, up to £1000 (reserve not met though, greedy seller). My first thought was that only clockers would want to pay that. It does still go on in the UK, despite the mileage printed on the MOT etc.

You'd have to sell a lot of second hand parts to make a profit on £1000. I can't see how it could make sense. Plus the fact it's a taxi probably means every panel's scuffed and the interior will be vomit-soaked.

I'm chuckling thinking about potential bidders reading this while googling.

Well I wouldn't know anything about the specifics of British late night cultural happenings.
