Hi after my unlucky start to Croma ownership reported in August, the car (touch wood) is behaving nicely and doing a pretty good job of towing my caravan when required. At the weekend I replaced the pollen filter - no problem. However while doing that I discovered an unplugged cable alongside the filter towards the centre of the car. The plug is quite small, black outside and green or purple inside with 3 or 4 wires attached. Not wanting to remove the wipers and complete plastic trim unnecessarily I could not see or feel any matching socket for this. As this is the basic 1.9TD 8v it may not be meant to be connected of course... but if anyone has any suggestions what it may be for I would be grateful for any help.
Second question - has anyone sourced a complete rear wiper arm? As recommended here I fitted a Halfords replacement blade, but thanks to broken plastic clips on the wiper arm it is almost as useless as the worn blade I was replacing...

I've got a feeling that the "mystery wire" issue has come up on here before. I'm not entirely sure, but it's worth a search/trawl within the Croma section. Knowing how we all ramble off-topic here (which is a good thing!) it could be in a thread about something completely different.

Edit: Here it is. No conclusions though...

...and it's on-topic too!

Hi Doofer, looking at the eper cd I think I have narrowed it down to either a windscreen washer defrost connector or an exhaust/pollution detector connector... I'll investigate further at the weekend I'll remove the whole grille trim below the windscreen and have a better look. Whatever it does I haven't noticed anything not working yet (apart from the alarm which is not in that area as far as I can tell)....
Cheers, Nick.

for the wiper arm try punto mk2 or newer from a salvage yard or ebay, should be the same and the fastest/cheapest solution...
and as far as mystery wire goes I never did figure out what mine is for but different locations, my guess is heated windscreen nozzles which I have in the winter package.

Hi,

Got the Croma 1.9 8v Dynamic and mine has the same.Must be for an extra not fitted to this model.
By the way Nickb500 notice we both live in the same County.
I also tow a caravan, found they tow very well,I've fitted spring assisters to mine which seems to steady the back of the car, even when solo.

Hi Gordon yes I'm in Durham city and commute to Newcastle every day although I haven't seen your Croma, or indeed any other since I bought mine at the end of July! I'm also pleased with its towing power despite it being the lower powered engine. My last tow car about 18 years ago was an Alfa 164 3.0V6 - that was excellent but I probably couldn't afford the petrol these days! Nick.
