Technical Croma power steering connection

I have modified my ELM cable to connect the K line to pin 12 as Yani states on the FiatECUScan site, however the "ECU fails to connect" message appears. I'm assuming Yani has looked at the power steering diagram on elearn to identify pin 12, but on my car its not working.

I clicked the send report button in FiatECUscan (after the ECU failed to connect) but i dont know if it sent the report, or just stores it on my computer for later use (time to read the instructions i suppose).

Update.

I have now managed to connect to my power steering ECU with my ELM cable. The reason for the original problem was..... When you modify a cable make sure you realise the obd pinout refers to the one mounted on the car (Male connection) and you connect to pin 12 and not pin 13 on you ELM cable (Female connection).

I think you have got this wrong and my wish to clarify/correct your post.

1) the OBD socket connector on the car is FEMALE
2) the OBD plug connector from KKL/ELM is MALE
3) PIN 12 is PIN 12 on both male and female connectors. Only variation is from point of view (ie. front / back of connector pins/sockets)

Edit....

Don't cross connect your cable as I did ( I soldered to pin 13 rather than pin 12.) :bang:
