I have been keeping an eye on Cromas for sale for the past months. I have a Eleganza 120 but really want an auto. A few come up but interesting the amount of prestigios with cloth trim and no sat nav. A few with leather (interestingly mostly 1.9s) but sat nav is ultra rare.

My ideal would be a 2.4 with cloth and sat nav but not seen one yet.

Couple of "new" prestigios being advertised today. 2.4 with cloth and 1.9 with leather. £6k and £4k respectively.

On another note, someone at work has a Croma dynamic. Apparently their pollen filter housing is cracked and needs replaced at great cost. They are trading it for a Hyundai I30. £2700 p/x. Bloke bought the Croma for £12k 4 years ago so that is a hit!!

Given the tiny fleet of Croma’s in the UK – then what’s the probability of finding all your essential elements (2.4 + Prestigio + auto + leather + SatNav)? You’re backing-yourself-into a very tight corner - you’ve probably more chance of being struck-by-lightning!

Does anyone own one? keithglos? DIDI?

Give yourself a-break – split your elements into `essential’ & `desireable.’

My "dream" Croma would be Prestigio with sat nav and beige leather - it looks proper upmarket. Like this...

As said by Caravadossi though, there's little chance of finding one.

I settled for Prestigio with cloth seats and no sat nav, in a colour I didn't like. Very happy with it though.

The sat nav is probably less capable than any present day Tom Tom or similar.

Well I hope it is more than just a Sat Nav. Hopefully a much improved version of the Stilo system.

Whole system lot is call Telematics and has much improved capability over a straight forward Sat Nav machine. Linking of the Sat Nat via GSM to back end systems is key.

Mind you, after the first free years service nobody, possibly except for business travelling bods, ever subscribes to the full capacilities and just use the Sat Nav and Phone as separate entities.

True - don't want the leather tho! Only reason is dogs in the car so need to put seat covers on and experience of that in my last Subaru Legacy with immaculate cream leather was the cover wore the leather down so was a pointless exercise. Can live without the sat nav really but it looks good! Talking to a Honda garage with a 2.4 with cloth and no sat nav re a 2.4 they have just got in. Waiting for them to come back with a valuation of mine (that should be amusing!).

Just to confirm, mine is 2.4, sat-nav (£1100 extra) cream leather, (£1100 extra), sky dome, and has just done 42 mpg for the last 372 miles.
I like the leather, leave the sat-nav on the trip mileage readout, rarely turn the radio on, put a CD in the multi changer and can't remember how to turn it on, never risk opening the sun roof, doubt if it's been used since new.
Two years ago I paid £2000 with my rather tired Alfa GT, which was 1 year older and 61000 miles, and got a 23000 miles auto instead, as my feet were beginning to get confused. Could no longer guarantee to synchronise engine to transmission at gear change. Also I backed into my garage door.
I reckon depreciation at £10000 for the 2 in 4 years. The Alfa went down £11000 in its first 18 months for the first owner. Just trying to convince myself. (I am 77)

You seem to drive a computer ok though. My Mum's 77 and she can't even drive the DVD player.

However, I have only just managed to convince her that the Volvo V70 was a bit too big for her. With her age she used to struggle to push the clutch pedal down properly, so to compensate she used to try and avoid stopping - anywhere. Well who's going to argue with a Septuagenarian woman driving a V70?

Who needs Alton Towers for thrills when you could get in a car with my Mum and watch her drive straight towards oncoming traffic overtaking parked cars with no intention of stopping?

The first time my partner got in the passenger seat we had to prise her fingers form the dashboard.

She now has an S40 and manages much better.(y)

What else is there on a wet Sunday? I still do hard disk data recoveries and mend the operating systems. I have a dual boot XP and Ubuntu Linux. Built the present computer 4 years ago to make a dual boot Xp and Mac, got it working but better with Linux. Since I put my sim card in the Croma 2 years ago (in the Sat Nav) I have had 2 calls, worked very well, slightly underused.

Work unfortunately - writing up an Annual Health & Safety Audit :(

Well I thought I was fairly computer literate, but it beats the sh*t* out of me. All credit to you. Now I know where to come with computer issues.

:worship:

 Perhaps you can reprogramme our Cromas for us. Apparently they can be chipped to give 180 BHP.
