Does anyone know if the optional adjustable boot floor can be retro-fitted and how I would get hold of one!?!?!?!?:D

Tim

It is just bolted in. I took mine out to modify it when I fitted a full-size 18" spare under it. I had to slot the bolt holes so it would sit a few mm higher. You should be able to order one from Fiat if you have a fat wallet.

I've never bothered using mine though - it stays permanently in its low position. It would be handy for big loads, except for the fact that there's a maximum weight limit in its high position. I think it's 75kg, it says underneath it. So it's no use for bricks, bags of cement, grandfather clocks etc.

The base board is orderable as a spare but will cost you 250 to 300 Euros. Not worth it IMHO.

Also I believe the base board is supported by a lip/ledge built into the boot side panel trim/carpet. You will not have this on your Croma so even more expense will be required or you will have to make your own side supports/blocks.

Personally I would cut a piece of 8mm or 10mm plywood and work form there. To cover it you could buy another base boot liner like you already have and stick it to the plywood.

If required (depending on what sort of loading you want) you could provide your own side wood support blocks or longditudinal support ribs.

Nick is right, it's only made of mouded fibre board like door cards and other trim. Not very strong, just for hiding a few things, mine is always down.

A home-made one as described by s130 would probably be far superior to the Fiat one (and cost a fraction of the price). As I said previously, mine is next to useless.

There are some photos of it kicking around on the forum somewhere - may be a useful reference.

The panel itself is just a moulded plastic tray, I guess with either fabric glued to the top or even just fibres stuck on. I did once kneel in the boot while cleaning it and it made a cracking noise. No visible damage or ill effects, but it's not particularly tough.
