Just got my 06 1.9D 120 Dynamic.

Is there any way to silence the audible alarm when locking/un-locking
doors using the remote ?

Seems a bit naff - can't hear any other car with it...

Mine does not make any sound only flashes the indicators. although the manual does say it will beep if there is an error.

Rubbish!!

If your car is fitted with a enclosure alarm, then when you lock or unlock the car a beep will be heard with the indicators flashing.

So can I assume that there is a problem with the alarm, or has someone disabled it?

I believe disabled. In the EU and possibly world wide there are different regualations regarding what sounds alarms can make and for how long.

To this end I believe Fiat Alarms (as integrated into the car during/as part of manufacturing) are universal alarms that are shipped with default settings depending on where they are desitined for.

My Fiat Stilo came with no flash and no sound when new. The dealer reprogrammed (via Examiner I believe) to flash and beep on lock/unlock.

Is yours an original UK Croma? If so then I would suspect disabled.

A test you could try is to no fully close a door and then attempt to centrally lock. Does it beep now?
