General Are Dealers Real People?

You don't believe these dealers actually carry out repairs prior to sale they don't even spot check them it's all too expensive. They simply pay some poor sod minimum wage to valet it then on the forecourt it goes. If its test driven and a faults picked up by the potential buyer the sales rep agrees to fix it prior to collection. Whether that's actually done is another matter there all Arthur Daleys the lot of em.(y)

Now there is something wrong with my vehicle and from the sounds most new Cromas but it's probably down to faulty connection besides it's under warranty all work carried out so far as been paid for by Fiat and should there be further issues then all parts are covered for a further twelve months. I certainly wouldn't sell the car private without resolving the current issue, as for the dealers hell yes I'd sell them a bag of fresh air if they'd buy it off me.

Afraid I disagree, it's my job to check they have been done;)

Well if that's the case which dealership are you a tech I think I'll come and purchase my next car from you. Provided you give me £6k for mine and 0% with no deposit over 5 years, oh yes I'm the customer from hell I need a pet hellcat you interested in a home...............

Glasses GUIDE.
exactly what it says, GUIDE!
just because it says the car is worth "blob" doesnt mean it is.
The area the car is been sold in, the condition, the general market, the colour, mileage condition etc.
Dont take Glasses as gospel cos as you have found out, it's a load of balls to the actual market.
Take your car to glasses and get them to pay the book price for it and see what they say.
As TI has stated, repairs, valet, marketing etc all cost money, dealers arent there as a charity for you.
You want everything but not prepared to budge on your price, funny that.
you think 0% is free?
you think "free servicing" is free?
you think the drop in price on the forecourt for the poor market stability means yours hasnt dropped in price also?

Look at the situation again and take a reality check

Rant over

Yes well I'm not one of the idiots who goes along to the dealer and buys a car with free road tax, free 1 years insurance, free fluffy dice and his and hers sun visor sticker then signs a finance agreement at 14.9 APR. When without the so called freebies I could of had it for say 7.9 APR and saved a packet on interest repayments.

It's funny how a few years ago when Glasses was not available to the pubic dealers would swear by it and put down good old Parkers. Now though it's some other bible that they swear by. You are quite right though it is a guide but although they can't physically inspect the car it does ask for age, mileage before giving you a guide price.

As for dealers being there as a charity solely for my benefit of course there not but if they want my business then they will give me a New Vauxhall Astra on 0% over 5 years or a very good APR or I'll walk. And believe you me there are plenty who will laugh when I've gone calling me atosser but just down the road or the other side of town there's someone else who wants my business that's how I buy my cars.......

And I haven't used public transport for a very long time?

I would say if you arent happy about what you are getting for the car as a px then sell it private and sign an agreement for the new car with no trade in.
you want your cake and eat it, that is the only way you will manage it, unless they are seriously desperate to shift stock
Buyers all seem to think that when the market is quiet and dealers say that prices on used cars are bad that their own personal car is still worth the money it was 6 months ago.
wrong.

I agree with you and believe it or not I have taken a loss on trade-ins in fact just about every car I've part chopped I've taken a hit but that's the sacrifice for a quick sale. However I feel on this occasion the individual concerned as delt a blow below the belt and that I'm not prepared to take, obviously they felt what I wanted was too much so stalemate. I'm not in a rush to get rid I can wait I recently had two new front tyres and discs and pads fitted as well as the new battery and recon alternator at the same time I had an oil and filter change. It's MOT is due but I don't foresee any major problems. It's actually very good on fuel as I've previously stated so I'll wait I may advertise it once Iv'e resolved the buzzing issue once for all to a private buyer,. Its now just 3 years old and as 32000 on the clock so it as a average mileage if I do sell though I won't expect a phone call from Jimboy:cry:

PS Gary Glitter just PM me and I told him to keep his hands off my aviator I also explained I don't want to be in his gang and I certainly don't wont to be be his true love, Brits ell see the funny side I hope...... I've actually heard he is intending on making a come back with his singing career the first song will be a re release of Hello, Hello, I'm Back Again

hey tony boy have you been drinking:D what on earth is all this GG stuff about:confused: eh i,m not looking for any vehicle at moment & i don't have your phone/number, so your right its impossible for me to phone:rolleyes:
if your still serious about selling the car, i would recomend concentrating on that & give up the silly gary glitter stuff:confused: i dont think thats helping;):D

Not actually trying to sell the car at present, alas I suppose the Gary Glitter joke was in poor taste but then so were the Michael Jackson jokes of years gone by still people laughed. After all I thought I'd bring a little bit of humour to the forum since all Fiat owners are comedians including myself(y).

If you really want to be taken seriously buy a Skoda........

Looking in autotrader yesterday and 3 years old Croma's with 40 to 60k are retailing for £4000 to £4500, Lower mileage examples not that much more. Telling is'nt it that Fiat withdrew the Croma in 2007 prices are in Free Fall. Still very happy with it, even though a few issues of late.

Yes it's heartbreaking, on the face of it I suppose what I was offered for a trade in was good if the prices on Auto Trader turn out to be consistent.

Mines just gone in for it's first MOT and to put right the bodged job Evans Halshaw did recently and hopefully finally resolve the buzzing noise.

Alas after looking on Auto Trader there are some the same age as mine with the same mileage were the dealers are asking around £6500. So with the sat nav unit I think I was right to push for a little more perhaps not as much as I would of liked.

Some good deals to be had on new (used) Bravos though, dealers are struggling to shift them as people are opting to buy new and receive the 5 year warranty deal. So if you don't mind one that's a year or so old you could bag yourself a bargain.

Though saying that has sales have been slugish from it's launch one as to be wary it doesn't go the same way as the Croma.

scrogg we have sold loads up north(y)
Wonder why that is? The Grande Punto sells really well down here, so it's not an anti-Fiat thing.

57 members in the 'How many Bravos' thread.. Only 70ish in the 'How many Stilos' one so not doing bad for a year old car!
The Stilo was hardly a massive success, so that's not really indicative of the car buying public as a whole.

The sad (extremely sad) fact is that, when compared to equivalent offerings from Ford, Vauxhall, Peugeot etc the Bravo just does not sell well. Maybe (hopefully) sales will pick up, but when even offering a 5 year warranty as standard doesn't bring people in I can't help feeling that nothing will :( :(
