as anyone who as a Croma 2.4mjt having problem starting the car? If so what as been done to fix the problem ?

the problem with cromas are they are over loaded withelectrics thus causing problems. DONT JUMP start it because the ecus all blow in sync causing u 0000's in bills!

Cromas have no more issues than other modern cars. Only jump start a car if you have worked out that the fault is a low-voltage in the battery. It won't help start it if there is anything else and could make it worse.

If you are having issues starting it perhaps it'll be a start to explain in which situations it won't start. Is it when it's hot or cold. Are there any warning lights? Does it crank over or not?

Only time mine spits its dummy is when it's been used for a short journey, then it'll turn for 3 or so seconds before catching. Rest of the time it goes after a couple of turns of the starter. Does yours do it all the time, does it ever fail to start, or is it some other problem?

Hello,

I have the same (or very similar) issue as this listed by DoIDon'tI. After a short journey and a consequent coiling of the engine to around 20-30 degrees Celsius, it is turning for 3-4 (or even 5-6) seconds before starting the engine. In all other situation (even in very cold conditions) it starts absolutely normally after a 1-1.5 sec turning of the starter.
It sounds like a sensor bug in a given temperature interval. That is why I've performed several observations with Multiecuscan connected to the ECU. It looks like the problem is not in the engine coolant temperature sensor (normal values), common rail pressure (normal values), crankshaft position sensor (it keeps 150-180 revs during the starter turning). The problem is not in the battery - a new Varta Silver 85Ah. Any other ideas?

DoIDon'tI, have you found the reason for this anomaly? Anyone else with such issue and a fix proposal?

Thanks in advance and best regards!

Hello-- This could be a fault with the fuel return system - something expanding under heat and moving when engine rocks under starting. Could also be an electrical connection to almost any sensor on the air/ fuel/ pressure measuring. Things like the MAF or air filter , if ita been in all winter it may need changing .
The pressure sensor in the inlet manifold , next to the EGR is an easy job to do and makes a hell of a difference when cleaned GENTLY with WD40 and a toothbrush.
